.........I took the picture into my hands and my jaw hit the floor. I couldn't understand how it was possible. This couldn't be happening. It was my sister, with some other guy around 40 with his arm around her shoulders, the same guy that came to get these pictures printed out. My long lost sister, twin sister to be precise.
My twin sister was kidnapped when she was 5. We don't know how or by whom but she was kidnapped. I know that facial features can change within 11 years but I can tell that she is my twin. She looks exactly like how she looked in the picture I have of us. My mom is a cop and she has been searching for her since and has never taken a break. I have to take this to her, she deserves to know that her daughter is safe. That she is alive. My dad would be the happiest person on Earth, once he knows that there still is a possibility that both his girls will finally be together.
Everything was finally falling into place. The only problem was that we still have to find her.
I dropped my cap and ran out of Walgreens, the place I work after school, with the picture tight in my hands. I ran to my car and started the engine within a second and raced home.
I burst through the door and ran to my dad's office. Luckily, as usually he was there on his computer. He looked up at me as if I was crazy.
"What happened Natalie? Why on earth did you burst through my door like a mad person?" My dad exclaimed. Without saying anything I placed the picture on the desk and slid it towards him. His eyes widened as soon as he saw the picture. If I could recognize the face, so could he.
"Is this..." I understood his uncompleted sentence and nodded.
I could see the water filling up his eyes, and felt my eyes doing the same.
"We have to call your mom, Natalie. We have to call your mom right this instance. Claire would kill me if I didn't tell her this immediately. Wait. Where did you even get this picture? How did you get it? Who is the man next to my daughter? Did he come to work? You have to tell me everything," He rambled.
"Hold on a sec dad. Your becoming mom." I said, rolling my eyes.
"This is not a situation to be rolling your eyes in young woman. This is possible evidence of your sister's whereabouts, Nat. You got that. Now I am gonna call your mother and your going to tell her everything." He was fuming, and I couldn't understand why he was angry with me. I didn't do anything; in contrary I actually helped the situation that was killing my parents from the inside. It isn't like I took the picture or I was in it with her. I just found it and brought it home.
Before I could say anything he got up and left the room to call mom. All of this was a bit too overwhelming. My mind was filled with 'What ifs'. What if she wasn't my twin? What if they can't find her. What will mom's reaction be? What if the guy who was in the picture with her was her kidnapper? What if she wants to stay with him instead of us? What if she doesn't remember us? What if she does remember us but still doesn't want to come back? To tell you simply that was only ¼ of what I had going through my mind.
"Get up we are going to the police station. Now." My dad spanned my out of my trance. I realize my cheeks were stained with tears and I my self slid down to the floor in my moment of panic. I got up and took the picture in my hand and followed my dad to his car. I sat in the car and just stared at the picture.
