"Tiger, is that you?" One of my best friends, Josh, shouted through from the kitchen.
"No, it's a burglar; can you please tell me where your valuables are?" I called back, dropping my bag to the floor and throwing my keys into the bowl on the coffee table, sarcasm dripping from my words.
"Ha-ha very funny Tiger," Josh mocked, walking through the kitchen door with an overflowing bowl of cereal. Seriously, for an athlete you'd think he wouldn't each quite so much! He landed with a thump on the sofa and patted the seat next to him for me to sit.
"I try," I said, picking up one of the wheetos out of his bowl and flicking his nose when he scowled at me.
I sat watching him as he shovelled the food down his throat. He was weirdly handsome for a guy who spent the majority of his college life being thrown into the mud by burly men. Not that he isn't pretty well endowed in the muscle area as well; I mean even if I didn't know him it was obvious he worked out a lot. Not that I've been looking or anything, but when a guy that gorgeous lives with you, you tend to notice these things.
We were pretty close, me and Josh, if you look at us from the outside we probably seem like the perfect couple, and it's true - he may just be the guy for me...
No! I'm totally kidding! He's my best friend and I love him - in a seriously platonic way.
"So, you looking forward to tonight then?" He asked, pulling me out of my inner head rambling.
"Yeah, it should be good!" I said, suddenly very excited.
"Yeah definitely, as long as I don't end up a drunk as I did last time," he paused, reminiscing, his face scrunching up as he remembered the next morning. "God, I had a killer hangover. Never again. Well, you know, apart from tonight!"
"We both know that's a lie," a voice whispered in between me and Josh, making me jump half a foot in the air and squeal like a little girl.
"Dammit Nate, seriously?" I shouted at him, whirling round to see a laughing Nate rolling on the floor clutching his stomach. Grabbing the nearest thing to me, which just so happened to be a pillow, I ran over to him and started whacking him with it. No one scared me and got away with it.
"And on that note," Josh said, grabbing his now empty bowl and running away from us into the kitchen. God that boy was like a termite when it came to food.
"Kell stop. Kell. Seriously, Kell stop." Nate shouted in between hits. He was squirming round on the floor clutching his head every time I went to smack him with the pillow again. Wow, this was too easy.
"Fine," he huffed, when he eventually realised I wasn't going to stop. Wrestling the pillow out of my hands he tackled me to the floor and started tickling me. Throwing my legs in every direction possible and squirming next to him, I pointlessly tried to prize his hands off my stomach. I say pointlessly because there was no way it was going to happen and we both knew that.
Eventually he must have gotten bored of my trying to kick him because he pushed his way on top of me so that he was straddling my hips, effectively making my legs useless. Damn him. Now what was I going to do? Sensing my new plan he wrestled my arms above my head and pinned them to the floor. Damn him. Again.
"You finished yet?" He said looking down at me, amusement clearly written all over his face. Oh so he thought this was funny then! Round two here I come, I thought, and with that I started squirming again, thrashing my hips side to side trying to make him fall off. But, no such luck. I lay back with a huff and let my body go limp.
"Are you finished now?" He asked again, clearly enjoying himself.
"Yes," I snarled at him, even though secretly I was enjoying it, we both were. It's just what we did! We always fought like this, Nate was a natural born flirt and it was hilarious to tease him.
"Aww, don't look at me like that Tiger," Nate said, fluttering his eyelashes down at me and smiling his signature smirk that always managed to get him out of trouble. Well nu-uh, not this time Nate Thomas. Not this time.
I continued scowling at him until he finally relented. "I'm sorry Tiger," he said, looking down at me.
"For?" I pushed, wanting to get as much out of this as possible. It was rare to get an apology out of him, well unless you were me, Sarah or Prim. He had a soft spot for his three girls, but that was probably only because we were the only three girls he'd met that hadn't tried to get into his bed.
"Seriously Tiger?" I just looked at him, clearly indicating yes. "Ugh fine, I'm sorry I scared you Tiger, that wasn't nice of me and I shouldn't have done it." Funny how things change isn't it. Here he was, sat on top of my holding my wrists above my head, yet he was the one apologizing! I loved how easy it was to confuse these guys!
I turned my head away, wanting to see how long I could drag this out for. I heard him grunt his disapproval as he caught both my wrists in one hand and used his other to stroke his way down my cheek to my chin, to pull my face towards his.
"Tiger? Am I going to have to make it up to you?" He teased, his voice taking on his seduction technique and his signature smirk returning. Really Nate? Really?
Wiggling his eyebrows he titled his head, so that his lips were in front of mine and slowly started to inch towards me. Oh so that's how it's going to be! Fine, game on Nate-y boy!
"Sure," I whispered, smiling sweetly at him knwowing full well it would freak him out and sure enough, for a split second I saw his cocky facade falter and confusion cross iover his face, but just as soon as it had come it had gone. Obviously he'd figured out my plan...
His lips inched closer, his unwavering eyes never leaving mine, and softly touched my neck enough to send shivers through me. Damn him. No wait. Damn Prim for telling him that was my soft spot. I was so going to have to get her back for that. Very soon..
But in the meantime, Nate's lips were still roaming along my neck, north towards my jaw. He paused for a second, placing a soft kiss on the corner of my lips. We both knew neither of us actually wanted to kiss the other, I mean sure we'd done it before, but we'd both been drunk and it had been one of those stupid dares, but that didn't mean we wanted to do it again. Unfortunately we both knew we weren't going to back down.
"Tiger," he whispered, his breath tickling down by cheek. I could feel his smirk on his face and knew he was teasing me.
"Yes?" I teased back, I felt his chest rumble with laughter, his lips inched closer and closer towards mine and he closed his eyes.
"Really guys? Again? I swear, one of these days your stubborness is going to get you both in some serious trouble." Prim said looking down at us, a scowl of amusement plastered on her face.
"Yeah probably!" I agreed, pushing Nate up. I was wondering what would interrupt us this time, kind of praying for it too!
"Wanna bet?"
"I think we should keep the bets for tonight handsome," I winked at him, earning chuckles from both him and Prim.
"You guys are so odd, I swear if I didn't know any better.." she trailed off, looking at her watch. "Oh my god, it's time! Come on Scar, we have to get ready!" Ah yes, time for the beginning of the night, spends hours getting dressed up for the three guys we lived with anyway.. oh yeah, we know how to have fun! I nodded my head at her and that was all it took for her to practically drag me up the stairs, I don't call her crazy for nothing!
3 hours. That's all that was left. 3 hours before the best game of our life. Only I didn't know that yet...
