Eve sat quietly while sipping her milkshake. In front of her was her best friend, Adam, having quite the conversation with Julie, my sister. she likes him but he like her. Eve looked away to the front door of the quaint cafe and faded in the background as the two lovebirds in front of her immersed themselves in their own world.

"I'll get going now." Eve stood up, gathering her belongings, "Sorry, I really gotta leave early."

   Adam nodded a goodbye.

The redhead smiled bitterly before walking away from the table.

Eve walked quietly to the dorms, many things gathered in her mind that afternoon. She regretted introducing her sister to Adam. She regretted lying to her sister, saying that she never thought about being more than just a friend to Adam. But most of all, she regretted falling in love with someone she will never reach.

She loved Adam but she loved her dear sister, Julie. She had to let go one of them.

"We're getting married," Julie announced, squeezing her sister's hand in excitement.

Eve's eyes went wide at the news. She looked up at Adam, giving him a confused look. Adam smiled and pointed his gaze back at Julie. Eve's heart clenched, she couldn't process the new information given to her. After all, nothing even hinted to this event.

"Oh," Eve managed to say, looking down at her hand, wrapped around Julie's dainty fingers.

"What-  what is it sis?" Julie asked, her cheerful face distorting into a mix of fear and nervousness.

Eve hummed in response, looking up at her sister, "Oh... it's nothing, I'm just very surprised."

"You never even hinted at this," Eve said, nailing a fake excited tone.

"Surprise!" Julie laughed, oblivious to the fact.

The sisters laughed, a few playful hits and teasing from Eve, while Julie showed off her engagement ring. Adam smiled at the view, two sisters being sisters are always brings a warm feeling to his insides. After all, he felt guilty. He knows that she likes him.

"Alright, no more jokes," Eve said, wiping away a tear from laughing too hard. "When's the wedding?"

"We haven't really thought about that," Julie smiled to her fiancé. "But, I'm sure it'll be during fall. It's our favourite season and also not too cold or too hot."

Eve sliced off a piece of her steak and brought it to her mouth. It was a method of her in order to calm her raging emotions. Eve contemplated her next words as she chewed on her steak.

"Julie, Adam," she said, gaining their attention.

"I will give you my full blessing," Cristine said, her own words stabbing her heart. "You are my one and only little sister, and I wish the best for you." Hearing that, Julie smiled ear to ear, not even hiding her excitement for her poor heart broken sister.

Adam shifted in his seat, leaning closer to Julie. They both intertwined their hands, Julie throwing herself at him for a warm hug. Eve leaned on her chair, pondering if she made the right decision. After all, she knew that he knew she loved him.

The rest of the night went on without a hitch, Julie, the chatterbox she is, went on and on about the events leading up to their engagement, events which she kept hidden from Eve up to these point. Eve wondered why she didn't notice any of these or even why Julie and Adam kept it a secret from her. But her mind didn't linger long on those wonderous thoughts, as she needed to muster enthusiastic remarks for Julie's sake.
