With everything that's going on I decided to make a phone call.
"Hello?"
"Hi Daddy" I said when he finally answered.

    I called daddy because he left a voicemail last night. He said he had something very important he wanted to share with me.

"Peaches! I'm so glad you called how's everything going?"
"Fine everything is just smooth sailing."
"So how is the little plum plum?"
"Nyla is fine. She started school and she says she made a new friend. I think she's beginning to like it here."
"Are you making sure she's keeping up with all her schoolwork and responsibilities?"
I rolled my eyes
"Yes daddy."
"Good. How are you two bonding?"
"We're getting there .I'm still working on it."
"Well I'm glad."
"So how's mommy?"
"She's doing great. She's trying to get use to the way things are now but she'll be fine."
" So she's ok with Nyla living with me now?"
"She's taking it all in."
"So she's not screaming damn like the mom off good times?"
"...........not yet,but she's alright for the most part."
"Ok. Hey did you or mommy tell Huey where I live?"
"No. He didn't say anything to us last time he was here. He just took his results then went."
"He's here. He showed up yesterday."
"Yesterday? What did he want?"
"He met her and they talked about everything. He's with her now."
"Jazmine now you know the rules. No strange men she doesn't know when she's present."
"But daddy he's not a stranger. They've met before and he is her father."
"Jazmine that doesn't matter. He's is as much of a father as I am a penguin trainer."
"What kind of analogy is that?"
"I don't know but the point is neither of us would be qualified."
"Oh daddy just give him a chance."
"He lost that when he left my poor daughter all alone like a prom night dumpster baby."
"Daddy we put that behind us. We talked and he apologized. Huey and I are both adults now."
"Ok but you know he's not stable and he travels all over the country doing whatever secret work he's doing. Nyla doesn't need his inconsistency. It's not healthy for either of you. Your mother won't like this one bit."

    Why did he have to hate on my baby daddy? I do have to think about things like that for Nyla. I don't need us to get attached and I had to protect my heart. A part of her still lives in me but I wasn't the little girl he used to know. The girl that loved him,lusted for him and had her feelings crushed because of him. I didn't need a relapse and I don't need him in and out of my baby's life.

"Look daddy I was upset about this too and I wasn't expecting him. I talked to him and I told I'm not going to let him come and go as he please and wrong OUR daughter. He promised her."

"I just don't know Jazmine. Seeing you so hurt and grief stricken while you was pregnant still hurts my heart. Holding my baby during the most difficult time of her life when she needed him the most will always be ingrained in my memory. We don't want that for her either."

"I know daddy but I can handle this. It's only fair she has her mother AND her father."

"Ok pumpkin I trust you but Jazmine please don't sleep with him."

"WHAT?!? EWW DADDY!"

Just because I find Huey attractive and he gets me wetter than a jacuzzi doesn't mean I wanna talk about that with my father. Gross! I'm not going to throw the kitty at him either.

"Daddy what it is that's so important you had to share with me?"

"Well as you know I have spent many years as an attorney. They have been some of my most rewarding years . From assistant district attorney to starting my own law firm it's time to take on the next chapter."

"Ooookaaay. So what is it?"

"I've wanted to do this for a long time and I need my family to support."
"Daddy......?"
"Jazmine I've decided to run for........."
"You're going to run a marathon why are you telling me this?"
"What? No listen. Don't interrupt. Jazmine I'm going to run for......."
