They were once used in compounds that literally ate ozone, the outer atmosphere of earth. During the manhattan project, fluorine was used to prepare uranium to be used for incendiary purposes. Just toothpaste alone can help repair the glass of your phone screen. Would you really trust putting that on your teeth?
