The Hold Up

Chapter Two

Ok so talking back to Mrs. Bird was not the best idea because now I have detention. I can't have detention tonight. I have a babysitting job to do. I wonder if Mrs.Pillsbury will mind my new look. Oh well I can always get another job working for my dad at the movie theatre he owns. As the principle walks in she notices me and and says " Danelle is that you?"

"yes ma'am It's me."

"Oh I hardly recognized you." she says and walks into her office.

I've know her all my life. My mother and her were high school friends. When my parents moved back here and I was born they were never apart,  just like in high school. She and I are sort of close I guess you can say. She's seen me grow up .She's like an Aunt to me. I don't know what she'd do if I get into serious trouble.

I walk into the guidance office and see Mrs.Bird waitng in there for me with Miss Stanley. They don't look happy to see me in here. Like they really care. Nobody has ever really cared about me besides Ally.

"I am ashamed of you Danelle." Mrs.Bird says when I sit down.

"I want to know what caused you speak back like that." Miss Stanley says.

"I don't want people thinking they can talk to me like they don't know me even though I've been in their class for two years now." I say 

"Wah." Miss Stanley and Mrs. Bird exclaim at the same time. 

For the rest of the lecture I kind of spaced out.

"Can I go now?"

"No you have to stay and finish detention."

"Well can I at least call and cancel my babysitting job tonight? Wouldn't want Mrs. Pillsbury waiting for me to show up."

"Well I guess you could but after you need to give me your phone."

"Alright."

"Okay."

After an hour of sitting in a room doing nothing I could finally leave. When I got home my mother was waiting for me.Never a good sign when she's sitting in her chair waitng for me. I walked in noticed her and walked up to my room ignoring her screaming my name trying to get me to come out of my room. I put my headphones in my ears and played my Ipod.

I started cleaning my room and figuring out what I was going to wear tomorrow. I finally finished around 10:30 pm and decided to go take a shower. I was in the shower for like 15  minutes knowing it would drive my mom crazy.

When I walked into my room wrapped in a towel there was a note and a present on my bed. I was wondering what it was for when my mother opened the door and walked in. She had an expectant expression on her face. I looked at her confused.

"What is this?"

"You really forgot?"

"About?"

"It's your Birthday Danielle!"

I was shocked. How could I forget my own birthday?! 

"Well are you goining to open it?"

"Umm sure, but can I get dressed first?"

"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize you had taken a shower.And I'm forgiving your behavior when you walked in because it's your birthday."

"Yeah sorry mom bad day today."

She stepped out of the room while I got dressed and when I was finished I told her she could come back in.

 "Well OPEN IT!"

"Alright chill mom."

"I picked this out just for you! I went to your favorite store, Forever 21."

That is my favorite store,well used to be. Since I have a new look I don't shop there anymore. I opened the box and pulled out three outfits and a dress, all with matching shoes and accessories. I really liked them, they were very cute. But the new clothes didn't match my new look alot but not enough to where anyone would question me.

" I love them thanks mom."

"I'm glad you liked them."

Me and my mom don't have the best relationship but it's always on my birthday we get along.

"Alright mom I'm going to bed goodnight."

"Alright have a goodnight. Oh and because I wasn't here when you woke up I'm going to make you your birthday breakfast tomorrow."

"Okay thanks mom."

"Your welcome." she said as she was leaving.

"Oh and mom." I waited foe her to come back to the door.

"Yes Danielle?"

"I love you mom. I know I don't say it very often but I do."

"I love you too Danielle. Goodnight." She said with a huge smile on her face. I never tell her I love her so she's probably soaking that in right now.
