Dearest Alexis

Dearest Alexis,

If I could take you out, it would be the simplest date. Nothing elaborate, no one watching. Just you, me and the stars.

I'd take you to that one place where you feel the safest and create new memories with you. We would walk there taking the sights of trees and then the hills. Then finally, when we got to the top I would get to see your face light up as you took in the view of the valleys below and land as far as your eyes can see.

When you were ready I'd have our simple meal setup spread out before you. I promise to have the blanket on a thick foam mattress so that you don't have to feel the bumpy ground underneath.  I would watch you eat as you enjoyed every last bite.

Dessert would be something messy so that I could have a reason to touch you by wiping it off your face. Then, I would have a reason to keep my hand on your cheek and look into your amazing eyes. Talking to you is so easy but after years of being away I'd keep you at arms length just so I can see you.

Then, I'd show you where I set up the tent. I wonder if you'd remember how I promised you I'd take you camping and make it fun. While you tour the tent I'd light a fire and set our mattress before the flames.

After you change into your PJs, we'd have hot chocolate and watch the stars. I'd enjoy watching you talk. And then, when you got sleepy, I'd pull you into me until you fell asleep.

Before you were fast asleep I'd whisper my love and promises to you. Just like the day I marked you. You're my treasure from the Goddess herself and I long for the day when  it doesn't matter who knows.

I know I'm young, headstrong and probably foolish. I wish I could be your leader, shoulder to cry on and the man you could look up to. I'm sorry I went away to be part of the Royal Guard.

I'm sorry I left you alone. I felt your loneliness and despite my faults I am returning for you. You are the only one who matters.

What is good for you is good for the Pack. You're the only girl I've ever wanted to kiss. You're the only one who can make me feel better just by smiling in my direction.

If I had the words to say, I would tell you these things just before you feel asleep so that you would go to sleep knowing how I feel. If I was brave I would tell you as I looked into your sapphire blue eyes and held your chocolate cheeks in my hands. If I was brave, I would give you my heart and seal it with a kiss.

That would be our beginning.
