"Hey Bakugou, you look tired, are ya okay?" With a groan, Bakugou just rolled his eyes; he really hated these extras. The past night had taken more of a toll on him that he was willing to admit, though just looking at him could give away that he wasn't quite feeling like his usual self. The lack of bite to his voice; his dishevelled and unkempt uniform, as well as his sluggish movements were all dead giveaways.
"Yo, chill out man, I was just aski-"
"Hey Kacchan, wait up!" Another voice yelled; the thudding of footsteps following not too far behind. Bakugou didn't even need to turn around to know who had interrupted the extra, but for once in his life, he actually felt the slightest bit of relief that the nerd had shown up.
"Oh god, not this kid again..."
Ignoring the incessant droning of the extra at his side, Bakugou turned and walked off towards the living broccoli, leaving the extra behind. Seeing Bakugou coming towards him, Deku stopped running; the smile on his face faltering as he sees the lack of a friendly face looking back at him. Somehow, for some reason, he had figured that Bakugou was going to be nice to him. He must've been wrong.
Once the two boys were finally face to face, Bakugou wasted no time in grabbing Deku's shirt; attempting to pull him onto his tip-toes, however being smacked in the face with the reality that his new quirk made that impossible.
"Don't worry nerd, I'm not gonna do anything, just look scared!" Bakugou growled, walking back in the direction Deku had come from, still holding onto and dragging the boy behind him.
"I- Wha- Kacchan, what're you doing?" Deku exclaimed, following the explosive boy as they turned corner after corner, heading further and further away from the school they were supposed to be going to.
"I didn't wanna deal with those extras anymore, they were pissin' me off" Bakugou yawned, his grip on Deku's shirt loosening ever so slightly, prompting him to remove Bakugou's hand fully; the two of them still walking.
"Y'know, you're allowed to say that you're tired; you don't have to be so aggressive with everything..." Deku chuckled, earning a small glare from Bakugou as the two walked side by side.
"So, how long are you planning on being late by..?"
Bakugou shrugged, leaving the silence to fill the air between them once more. It had been so long since the two of them had had anything even remotely close to a normal conversation- and it was showing now more than ever.
"Well, if you just want to avoid the rest of the class before lesson, then we only need to stay back by around seven minutes; I know just the route," Deku mumbled, walking ahead of Bakugou and signalling for him to follow.
Now, In his sleep-depraved state, there were a few things that failed to connect in his mind, and some that just took a little bit longer than they should have. The first of these things is that he was following Deku's lead with no resistance. The second, and arguably most important, of these things, is that Deku knew the exact route he needed to take in order to not have to see any of his classmates. For some reason unbeknownst to him, he actually felt a tiny amount of guilt for that.
After a small-talk-filled walk, just as Midoriya had predicted, the two of them arrived at the front gates of their school; seeing the last of the students who wanted to spend as much time outside of the building, entering said building.
"Do you want to come over to my house today? I was hoping that we could get started on training our quirks, but if you're too tired, we could just hang out for a while?"
The two of them continuing to head to their class, Bakugou clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes at the person by his side.
"Why the fuck do you think me being tired is gonna stop me from training with my quirk? I'm headin' for UA, remember? Being tired isn't an excuse to skip out on gettin' stronger..."
Deku chuckled, hearing the blond yawn the moment he finished talking.
"So, is that a yes, or..?"
"Yes! Stupid Deku..."
The two of them finally entering their class, all of the students turned to see who it was that was entering the room- however upon seeing Bakugou, immediately turned back to the work on their desks.
"Sorry for being late Miss!" Deku nervously called, only to receive a nod from said teacher. This time, it was Bakugou's turn to let out a small chuckle; walking past Deku and sitting in his own desk. Midoriya frowned, walking over to and sitting down at his desk. Bakugou's sudden friendliness had almost made him forget that the rest of the school still considered him quirkless; worthless. It wasn't like he'd forgiven the way his 'friend' had acted towards him either, before his quirk had finally come in- but he knew that Bakugou had at least in part come to terms with the fact that he wasn't exactly a nice person.
"Midoriya, are you listening? I asked you a question..."
Coming back to the present, Midoriya quickly looked over to where the voice had come from; his teacher. Fuck. He hadn't been listening.
"Erm sorry, I must have zoned out- could you please repeat the question?" A few giggles could be heard from the rest of the class, before the teacher sighed. Pointing to the interactive whiteboard behind her, she repeated her question.
"In our society, we have Heroes and Villains, what is the third thing we have?"
"Vigilantes?" Deku questioned, tilting his head ever so slightly. He had heard the term thrown around sometimes on Hero forums, however he had never really looked into what they actually were.
"Yes, that's right; Vigilantes- the grey-area in-between heroism and villainy" The teacher explained, changing the slide on the board; pictures of what Deku assumed to be Vigilantes appearing a midst of text he was already beginning to write down.
"Vigilantes are a very interesting aspect of our society, as they don't fit into the roles of either Heroes or Villains- but they can still lean towards heroism or villainy. Technically, in the eyes of the law, all Vigilantes are criminals; however this isn't because they are villains or evil, but mainly because they use their Quirk without a licence."
Waiting a moment for her class to finish taking notes, the teacher then once again changed slides; the once small pictures from the previous slide now being large enough to see- and large enough to gain the attention of two students in particular. Quickly glancing back at Deku, Bakugou turned back to stare at one of the woman on the board; his sleep deprivation seemingly taking a back seat.
The woman in question, according to the information on the board, was known as 'Widow', and was one of the Thugs the two had been running for their life from the pervious night.
"Bakugou, please pay attention!" The teacher coughed, quickly returning to her presentation. He hadn't realised he'd zoned out.
"So anyway, as I was saying, the third example here is a Vigilante that- unlike the previous two, leans more towards the side of Villainy. Her name is 'Widow'. She has been active for quite some time now in the Vigilante community, and is a known arms trafficker, however the reason she is not considered to be a Villain is due to the fact that she has on several occasions fought alongside Heroes to prevent large disasters-"
"What I don't get is why these 'Heroic' Vigilantes don't just become actual Heroes?!" Bakugou interrupted, getting certain looks from other members of the class, who had actually become strangely invested in the lesson.
"Well something like that would change from person to person; take the Vigilante 'Jeopardy' for example; he was a student at UA a few years ago, however after continually failing the Hero Licencing Exam, he dropped out and chose to help people as a Vigilante..." The teacher explained, seemingly satiating the explosive boy as he sank back down into his chair, the heaviness of his eyelids seeming to come back.Continuing on with her lesson, it wasn't long before the bell rang and each of the students were packing up; getting ready to either go to their next lesson, skip their next lesson, or go on their break.
