The experiment was a great success and the day after I had some free time. I was almost sad. I decided to give a look at Jungkook before leaving for a walk. “How’s going the inventory?”, he didn’t hear me getting into the room, so he quickly looked up at me, a little bit surprised. “Almost done, I’m giving the last check before giving these sheets to the professor. We need some expensive stuff this month”. He left his pen on the table to take a break and drink a coffee outside the building. I followed him. He changed a lot during this first year, I felt like a proud dad watching his son moving his first steps into adulthood. I payed his coffee and I reached him on a bench in the garden, not too far from the lab’s heavy glass door. “Now that you’re done with your experiment, I wanted to ask you a favour. Nothing important, but it would be fun”. I  nodded and he kept on talking. “There’s a science fair this weekend in my old elementary school and they asked me if I could take there one or two of my collagues to see children’s creations. Would you like to come? If you’re free of course”. “Hey Kookie, are you trying to date me?” I laughed to tears at him while he punched me on my arm several times. “It would be nice, I’ll take part. Can’t wait to see some Volcanos made out of sodium bicarbonate. Missed those days”. It sounded like a really good idea and a great chance to meet some teachers or scientists and to talk them about my research. “Okay, but we have to leave early on Saturday morning, the science fair starts right after lunchtime”.

Jungkook went back at work and I reached Min Yoongi right outside the dormitory, whre he was still reading the same book of the night before. “Want to join me for a walk? And I don’t accept a let me finish this chapter as a reply”. He stood up, cleaned his jeans from the grass and followed me through the pathway holding his old backpack in his hand. “It’s not weird for you to have spare time? I mean, how long have you been without seeing the sun? Three months?” He asked me ironically. And he was right. I’ve spent all springtime at the lab for hours and hours in a row. I’ve been quite absent and I thought he would have been angry at me, but he was the only one who truly understood how much I cared about my experiment and my career. “I’ve become a test tube myself, but this weekend I’m going in London. I’ve been chosen by the wise Jungkook to take part to a Science fair as a judge”. Yoongi looked and me “You’re the only qualified person Jungkook has ever spoken to. He’s even more introvert and shy than me. Well, maybe it’s you attracting guys in need of social life”. I laughed and put an arm on his shoulders “You can call me dad Jin”. He pushed my arm away “Gross”.

I met Jungkook at the train station and we reached together the platform. We waited for the train talking about his elementary school and how much he loved it. He kept in contact with his teachers and he sometimes called them even though he left that school many years ago. He told me about how good it was and how it helped him choosing his school career. He sounded pretty satisfied of his choices. The train arrived and after ten minutes I almost fell asleep in my comfortable seat. Travelling by train was so relaxing, and after months of no sleep nights due to my research it looked like a day spa. Jungkook woke me up as we arrived in London. Maybe he was even more excited than those kids who were going to present their works for the first time. We took a taxi and reached the school in twenty minutes. Wow, it was a really beautiful building in spite of it was a public school. We crossed the playground and entered the main hall, where a lot of teachers and parents were waiting for everyone to come. “Hey Jin, I want to look for my old locker, I’ll be back in a minute” I didn’t have the time to reply: Jungkook immediately disappeared. I started to look into those classrooms full of colorful chairs and tiny desks. Really good furniture. I looked at my reflection in a glass panel on the wall where a lot of prizes were exposed. Mostly sport related. I  was fixing my lab coat collar (You’ll look professional to the kids, Kookie said) when I heard “You must be the researcher from Oxford University. Nice to meet you, I’m Kim Namjoon, I teach Math here”.

Well, I hope I haven't messed up already

I leave here a pic of a super professional and elegant Namjoon

Stay tuned for the updates
