He shouldn't have believed it when he heard that Igneel was in town. But there were just so many people that he couldn't help but be drawn to the crowd anyway. He was disappointed that the man wasn't the fire dragon he seeked, but definitely not surprised. And when the weird blonde girl approached him with a bright smile ("I'm Lucy!"), he couldn't say no to her cute voice and genuine enthusiasm. And sure, "Igneel" turned out to be a wanted criminal, and yeah, they demolished almost the entire coastline of Hargeon with tycoons of water and bursts of fire, but it was more fun that way.
And did he regret it? No.

He shouldn't have gotten that tree for her. But he couldn't stand to see Lucy sad because she missed the festival. The Rainbow Sakura tree was a treasured symbol for everyone, and it was going to be the center of attention during Hanami. And when he put it on the boat to float it down the river by her apartment window ("So she can see it!"), he didn't really care about ruining the festival, only that Lucy would be happy. And sure, the Mayor was mad about the whole ordeal, and yeah, Master threw a fit about them digging up the tree, but it was worth seeing the smile on Lucy's face.
And did he regret it? No.

He shouldn't have kissed her that night in her apartment. But he couldn't resist her alluring eyes, even if he tried. They were so close that evening, laughing and talking as they usually would. And when they suddenly stopped, all heated bodies and useless hands and words left unsaid, he didn't think anymore. And sure, she cried after his confession, and yeah, it took a while to get over all the teasing after they became a couple, but it was worth being the boyfriend of the most amazing girl out there.
And did he regret it? No.

He shouldn't have bought that ridiculously over-priced ring. But he knew it was a decision that he would never regret. He and Gray spent hours looking for the perfect ring to slip on her perfect finger ("Now we know how Lucy feels when she goes shopping"), and Erza nearly killed them for picking the wrong metal to put the diamond in. And when he knelt down before her with the most sincere face he could muster and held out the ring, he said the words he knew he felt the day they first met. And sure, their wedding turned into a full-blown Fairy Tail party, and yeah, they all had wicked hangovers the next day, but it was worth seeing his beautiful bride with a ring on her finger and his name on her lips.
And did he regret it? No.
