It is perfectly common for a girl of good breeding to roll over and flip off her alarm clock at 6 am.
That was me... every single morning of high school. But this morning was a little bit different, it was the first day of senior year after all. I decided to have the decency not to flip off the alarm on my phone this fine morning, and I slipped on the khaki colored skirt with a matching navy polo to top it all off. I was ready for today, and this year was gonna kick ass.
I made it to school around 7:30 and made a straight beeline to the locker we all shared. Last year we had figured out how to break the lock so the locker would be constantly open, and we forgot the combo so we just decided to leave it be. As I opened up 221 I searched for any signs that my friends were also at school, and there it was. Jessica's black and green lunch bag draped against her blue hydro flask which had enough anime stickers to be a comic book. I closed the locker, maybe a bit too hard, and began my rounds searching for a blond 5'5 girl.
I found her where I always find her: talking to Mrs. Bohnsack about some murder stories she watched over the summer. I walked in and was instantly greeted by a warm embrace from my favorite 4'8 Italian. I had Bio with Mrs. Bohnsack freshman year, and ever since she had become the teacher we all went to for lunch. She began rambling about mice and whatever a bio teacher may ramble about when the bell rung at 8.
As Jessica and I began to walk to our first period, Adelaide, who is also 5'5 by the way, came running up to the locker hands full of sports bags and backpacks. She shoved everything she owned into that locker then trotted up to walk with us to class.
"GUYS!" She screams at us.
"Hi Adelaide, it's kind of insane you are gonna be on time today. Are you feeling alright?" Jessica smirks as she completely roasts our lovable but time struggling friend.
"Haha, very funny. I thought I would make a good impression this year. But that's not the point I'm trying to mak.."
"Girly I know I'm just messing with ya." Jessica says as she pokes Adelaide in the arm.
"Haha it's ok Jessica, but seriously!!! You will not believe it, but I scored tickets to go see the cinematic event of the year." She nearly screams in the middle of the 300 hall.
"Okay I like where this is going... what movie?" I say with a grin plastered on my face. I adore movies, I live for them, I sometimes make them in my spare time but I constantly have one playing.
"Okay so it's in three days, and it's the greatest movie of all time!!! It's the one, the only, drum roll please.... MOANA!" She stares intently into our eyes as she pleads for a response. Silence encompasses us for a few seconds. Then I burst out laughing.
"Hey it's a good movie and they are only showing it for one night at Red Rocks! Come on it'll be fun." She slaps my hand as she speaks directly to me.
"I'd be up for it that sounds really fun!" Jessica shouts as she walks into trig.
Adelaide pulls me aside, looks into my eyes, and says: "Hannah you will come to that movie if it's the last thing I do I hope you know that."
The seriousness of her tone only makes me laugh harder as I promise that I will be there and that I will sing along to the little bit I know of each song. As I drop her off at english I can't help but smile as I scream: "YOU'RE WELCOME."
Class that day was somewhat boring considering that none of us ever had classes together. Four years at the same school and only once did all three of us have the same class. But who needs class when you have lunch. Oh lunch the best time of day, and today was the first official day that we were allowed to go off campus: a perk of being a senior. We decided on the best possible restaurant to eat at: Chipotle.
Somehow we managed to squeeze nine of us into our friend Vivian's minivan, and thank goodness she was driving because let me tell you... driving more than three people gives me a heart attack. They scream and sing as I try to focus on the lines and lights that keep changing and the chaos is enough to drive one mad. But anyways, we made it to Chipotle safely and we all ate our first off campus meal in complete bliss.
The rest of the day was uneventful, and as 3 o'clock neared everyone was begging to be released from their studies. Going from doing nothing all day to working for 8 hours straight is very strenuous on the body. As Rita Niblack, the head of religion at our private school, came on the intercom to present a closing prayer for the day everyone jumped for joy: that is until her prayer went from 2:58 to 3:05.
