Chapter 2

Present Day

I put my in-ears in and head out for the front of the stage. 

I adjust my outfit once more before heading to the riser and crouching down. I look to the tech-guy and give him a nod letting him know i'm ready.

I stand up and clutch my microphone. 

" GOOD EVENING LOS ANGELES"

The drive back to Stass's was almost insufferable. 

I had been given a week off to see friends and people closeby.  First person on my list was Stas. Picking up the phone to call her, I slowly stepped out of the shoes I was wearing.

" Hey Rach, whats up?" She answers the phone, I can hear loud mumbling in the background with a hint of bass from some songs. 

" I'm coming home!"

" What? I can't hear you. Sorry i'm at a party. Give me one second to find a quiet place to talk".

I hear her shuffling around the room with a few voices as she walks by. 

" Stass where are you going baby?" A male voice says as she walks by.

" Baby? You got a boyfriend you aren't telling me about?" I laugh and twiddle my hair between my fingers.

" What? Oh god no, that was just Zane. We're at one of David's parties". She laughs before getting to ask me what I was talking about. 

I catch her up to date on  what my plan was for the next few days and that I will be at her house in a few minutes.

" I won't be home till late but I want to see you. Do you want to meet up at David's house? They haven't seen you in forever".

" I don't know, I'm pretty tired after the concert tonigh-"

" who are we talking to Stass?" I hear David's voice flood through the phone suddenly.

" It's Rachel, she's on her way home and i'm trying to convince her to come to the party but she's saying shes tireddd". Stass laughs and teases me.

" RACH! You gotta come. It would make great content and we haven't seen you in forever!" 

" I'm glad i'm just content for you dickhead," I laugh, " What's in it for me?" 

" I don't know. Dom is here, he's kind of cute". 

" Dave you're not setting her up with DURTE DOM". Stass gasps and laughs at him. " She deserves the best we have to offer."

" Well we always have Jeff." 

" RACH, you have to come meet Jeff! You would love him". 

I feel my heart twinge in discomfort for a moment at the thought of meeting a guy.

I guess he still has that affect of fear on me after all these years.

A moment flashes before my eyes of Trev pushing me to floor, his voice booming behind me moments after.

I snap out of it and try not to let it affect my mental space too much.

He is long gone Rachel. You need to get over this. Just do it. You'll have fun.

" Okay, I will be there."
