Chapter Three

Out on the lake 3                                                                

The silence in the car was too much after about an hour. She glanced over at him, and though he was looking out the front window, she had to wonder if he was awake. "So.", she said, and he turned his light honey colored eyes her way.

"So.", he repeated.

"What does everyone else do now?", she asked.

"You don't know?", he asked.

"I barely talk to Darren at all anymore. I am not even sure what he does anymore.", she replied as she laughed through the statement.

"Why is that?", he asked.

"Why is what?", she asked back.

"The fact you no longer speak to your brother.", he pondered.

"That is easy. I don't really like any of my siblings.", she said with a straight face.

"But I never understood why that was.", he said.

"No real reason. I just was sick of being compared to them.", she said.

"There was no comparison.", he said softly.

"Well thank you for that, but honestly it was just a family dynamic thing. No big deal.", she said blowing it off completely. He knew then there was something very big under her dislike of her siblings and he wanted to know more. But that was for another time he decided. There would be plenty of time to get to know the woman that the little girl turned into.

"Nobu started his own company right out of college. He had the backers lined up for years, and with help from some of the others, he managed to bring forward a new software company. So he is the CEO of it, but Hideyoshi runs most of the day to day of it. Now they both got married, and both have families. I think they let the company mostly do all the work, and they keep light hands on the wheel. Mitsunari is a corporate lawyer for the company."

"He is?", she asked.

"Yes why?", he asked.

"Doesn't seem like the cutthroat type to be a corporate lawyer.", she said.

"You're right on that, but he is one of the best. He basically runs his firm, but the ones he has working for him do all the heavy lifting.", he replied. "Sasuke runs the scientific division of the research. Kenshin works with there counter intelligence network. Shingen is a coach for a football team now. I think he still works on the college level, Yukimura is his second in charge. Ieyasu is a research doctor. You both with have a lot to talk about I am sure."

"The others?", she asked.

"They all change jobs, but it is often having to do with Nobu's company or starting their own.", Mitsuhide said.

"So you are the only one completely not connected?", she asked.

"Something like that.", he said.

"So why?", she asked.

"I work better when not pressured.", he said.

"Not pressured in our line of work?", she asked again laughing.

"Okay, not with them hanging over my shoulder. I like what I do now.", he said.

"and that is?", she asked.

"I could tell you, but I would have to kill you afterward.", he said with a straight face.

"Same.", she said.
