"Where's the cash, dad?" Klaus mutters to himself under his father's desk,"Where's the cash?"
The past sixteen years have not treated Klaus Hargreeves particularly well. When his twin sister, Violet disappeared after breakfast one morning along with with their adopted sibling, Number Five, he was never the same. Violet brought out the best parts of Klaus and while he found being able to commune with the dead a frightful curse Violet helped him ease the pain and discomfort that came along with being constantly haunted by the dead.
With Violet being gone, he chose to constantly suppress his powers with drugs and alcohol as well as numbing his emotions. Klaus was also frightened of the idea of being sober and contacted by Violet's deceased self. He needed to believe his sister was still out there somewhere with that prick, Number Five.
Klaus was angry and furious with Number Five for stealing his sister's heart and tearing her away from him. He knew that Violet only ran after Five because she was hopelessly in love with him. It was nauseating to Klaus. Violet and Five might have had a connection but Klaus was her twin brother for fucks sake and he knew in his heart that Violet would never purposely leave him and that Five was completely to blame for taking her away. They needed each other to function.
Violet had the power to see the past and future of something or someone by just touching it. He still remembers the time she accidentally grazed Ben at dinner when they were around 7 or 8 and started to bawl. Violet had refused to tell anyone what on earth she saw but Klaus knows now that she had most likely been given a vision of his gruesome death. After that she always concealed her power with black gloves and only took them off for a mission. While Klaus could communicate with the dead, Violet could be given knowledge of someones death as a consequence of looking into the future and they were both powerless to their abilities because of this.
Allison creeped up on Klaus who was rummaging through their late father's stuff in his study. "Klaus, what are you doing in there?" She broke her silence.
Klaus turned around and looked up at Allison. "Oh. Allison" He gasped. "Wow, is that you? Hey, come here." He pulled her into a hug. "Long time, hey, I was hoping to see you, actually because I wanted to get your autograph. Add it to my collection!" He said, playfully.
Allison, looking at Klaus questionably, glanced down at his wrist and noticed he must have just been released from rehab."Hmm, just out of rehab?" She remarked.
"No, no, no, no, no. I'm done with all that." Klaus sighed. "I just came down here to prove to myself that the old man was really gone. And he is! He's dead! Yeah!" He said enthusiastically while clapping his hands.
He continues, "You know how I know? Because if he were alive not one of us would be allowed to set foot in this room. He was always in here our whole childhood, plotting his next torment, right?" Klaus chuckled. "You know how he used to look at us, that scowl? Thank christ he's not our real father so we couldn't inherit those cold dead eyes!" He starts to mimic father as he was lounging in their father's old office chair, feet on the desk in front.
"Get out of his chair." Number One, Luther said, sternly.
"Oh, wow! Luther, you really filled out over the years, huh?" Klaus stood up from his father's old chair and flexed his muscles, laughing.
"Klaus-" Luther started.
"Save the lecture, I was just leaving. You guys can talk amongst yourselves" Klaus chuckles softly as he begins to walk towards the doorway.
Luther stopped him before he could make an exit. "Drop it."
"Ex squeeze me?"
"Do it. Now."
Klaus stares at Luther blankly for a couple moments before ripping himself from Luther's grasp."Alright, Alright. It was just an advance on our inheritance! That's all it is. No need to get your little panties in a bunch." He states as he throws out everything he took from their father's office out onto the floor.
Before Klaus leaves Luther halts him again and says, "Do you think Violet would like to see you like this? Would she be proud of you?"
Klaus turns around to reply before leaving. "If Violet was here, I can assure you I wouldn't be like this."
If Violet was here
Oh how Klaus wishes she was.
