"Avni Neil Khanna!" The lady shouted. Her brown hair mingled with the dirty red streaks flew like a broom dancing around.

"Yes !" Turning on her heel , keeping her both hands around her figure. She gave a little smile to her son before turning back to the lady.

"Your son is a menace..." Before the lady could complete, Avni raised her finger at her , replying in a voice that was alarmingly angry "Oye bete par mat ja!"

The lady shamelessly continued ignoring the storm which was going to rip her apart.
"To kya uske baap pe jaaun ?"

The little Neav's brown eyes shot up. He knew that now- that lady's gonna be dead! No one is allowed to fight with his dad , no one except her of course!

His eyes followed her flushed mothers path while she mumbled "Tu to gyi....."

Neil opened the door and sat on the wooden bench outside the principal's room. He was too shocked to be angry .

If Neav hadn't called him on time. Avni would be in jail. Literally. The lady was high on testosterone.

Now turning his head towards his wife whose light blue long dress was all brushed with mud alongside his 6 year old son who looked no different than his mother.

Her arms crossed across her heaving chest. She had little cuts here and there. Carefully checking her son for any injuries she sputtered in a voice enough to warn anyone" Aaj to Bach gyi wo. Uski himmat kaise h..."

Neil cut her off.
"Tu kya kare rhi thi Avni? Aise koi Marta hai Bhala? Aise lag rha tha ki kisi professional gunde ne pita ho !"

"Well done Mumma !!" Neav muttered with pride as Neil looked at him in horror.

Both the mother son hi-fied each other before standing up to go home , breaking his trance Avni ordered, " Ab tumhe bhi Mai hi uthau? "

"Neil wo tumhare baare Mai kuch kehne wali thi......bas fir kya tha.....jar diye do!"

"Uff... Pagal ladki !" He said while dressing her wounds.

"Stupid Aadmi!" Avni replied poking her tongue. She was still angry.
It was enough for her. First that lady. Neav's complaints. Then her insult , which she didn't reply to. But then no one is allowed to talk about them , her boys , that way.

Patting and kissing her little mischief maker. She looked at him in awe. Six years ! She gasps realising how long it has been since. So cute still.
"Mera chotu sa Bandar!Bilkul papa jaise" Laughing she covers him and switches off the lights.

Neil just looks on. Making himself understand that she was a mother. Fiery one.

"Chodo.....Mai tumse Katti Hun smjhe!" Removing Neil's hands she muttered in ignorance as her husband stood there smirking.

"Par Mai to Abhi bhi Abbi Hun na.....meri pagal ladki"
Smiling cutely Neil kept his chin on her shoulder as he felt her smile reach him. Immediately Avni composed herself and came back to her angry Avatar , pushing him.

"Waise mujhe college ke wo din yaad aayi gye jab tu un bachaari ladkiy.." he stopped midway. Her eyes narrowed and teeth locked together.

What followed was a war.
Pillow war.

Tired they jumped on the matress looking at each other, tired not because of the little war but because of endless laughter they shared.

Extending his hand to turn on their song he was stopped midway and then they started singing together..not most melodious but still with love.

I'll wake you up with some breakfast in bed
I'll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head
And I'll take the kids to school
Wave them goodbye
And I'll thank my lucky stars for that night

when Neil completed , Avni sang with misty eyes. Remembering every moment of togetherness.

I wanna live with you
Even when we're ghosts
'Cause you were always there for me when I needed you most

I'm gonna love you till
My lungs give out
I promise till death we part like in our vows

And collectively entwining their hands , eyes mingled and bodies pressed together....

Just say you won't let go
