jenn grips her earbuds with one hand and speed-walks down the hall. everyone ignores her, as usual.
not caring, she dashes to the stairwell and sits down at the bottom. the final bell rings, signaling that you should be in class. jenn plugs in the earbuds and puts one in each ear. she jumps up and starts dancing, feeling the music pulse through her body. she quietly sings the lyrics.
as the first song ends, jenn sits in the corner of the stairwell, pushing a empty bag of chips aside. she balls up in the corner and cries as a sad song begins to burst through the headphones.
after about five songs, she cries and dances.
as jenn was dancing, a metal door of the stairwell creaks open. she stops dead in her tracks, one of her buds falling out of her ear from the sudden change in movement.
to her surprise, the sound isn't from a teacher, it is luke. he smiles at her, and walks passed her through the silver stairwell. when he reaches the top, he looks down at jenn. luke smirks and pulls out a snickers bar from his back pocket. he drops it down to her and she catches it, taking a small bite.
"reason number four. music." luke smiles, and pads out of the stairway.
