it was just another day in paradise for me. i would wake up. get dressed. walk to work. see the same boy everyday for lunch. then go home. sleep. then i repeated the process. i recently decided i leave my old home and move more northern up to sydney. so yes this means i am from austraila. i lived in melbourne all my life. i was born there. grew up there.
oh by the way let me introduce myself. i am ava. ava jane campbell. i grew up with the name ava jane, but as i reached my teen years i preferred ava. even though my parents think ava jane is a beautiful and sincere name, i still hate it. back on track, i work at a small bistro on the corner of some street i never got the name of. i live alone in a small apartment above a coffee shop about three blocks down. the guy who came and ate lunch with me everyday was my boyfriend. he was the main reason i even moved to this place.
of course we met the stupidest way. i went on a vacation with a girl from high school named, jenny- or was it jenna? i don't remember but i went with her. it was only year eleven for me while it was year twelve for her. i think the only reason i went with her is because she was my neighbor and she invited me or something. well i met my boyfriend, luke, at a party we went to. so we kinda hooked up and stuff you know. then we woke up the next day, my dress hiked up. heels across the room. his shirt was off and pants were unbuttoned. we must've not had sex because we were both clothed. well anyways we had coffee the next day, at the coffee shop i live above. he gave me his number and then we became instant friends. he told me to come visit him and when i did, i ended up staying two weeks longer and bringing every belonging of mine. i lived with luke for about three weeks and then my parents helped me by paying my first three months of rent. i soon got a job and i am at where i am today.
i arrived at the bistro at ten am. i helped my co worker lily roll up silverware. i hooked her up with lukes roommate, calum. apparently, they are madly in love. after i finished the last thing of utensils. i went over to the cash register sitting down on the stool to warm it up before the first customer walked in. everyday the same guy walked in. he had dirty blonde messy curls which was always pulled back by a bandana, occasionally a beanie, mostly on the windy days. then he always wore these holey shirts and the same black skinny jeans, he always a pair of complete black converse. i wanted to know about him. something seemed interesting about him to me. i wouldn't be lying if i said he wasn't somewhat attractive. he always walked in and sat down at the same spot in the corner table by the window. i usually served him the same thing everyday. he would get a plate of spaghetti and a lemonade. i never knew why he got that, and every day though.
i tapped my fingers to the over head beat playing and waited until i heard the usual 11:45 door bell. I waited for him to get settled into his seat. i gave it about a minute before walking to his table. i grabbed a note pad and pen. i walked his way and he must have heard me because he looked up. "usual?" i asked. "oh ava. since you are going to be so casual and not even ask for my drink, i am changing up the order." he scoffed. "what would like?" i asked. "wait how did you know my name?" i asked. "hello, i am ava. i will be helping you today." he chirped in a girly voice, mocking me. "i am sorry. didn't think you actually paid attention." i rolled my eyes. "plus that boyfriend of yours, never shuts up about you." he shrugged. he knew luke? how? i thought lukes only friends were calum, michael, and- ashton. the one i never met, so this must be him. unless luke has other friends i don't know about. he could be michael because i have never met him either, but this guy has normal hair. michael has rainbow hair, or thats what luke makes him sound like. "you ash?" i asked. "you go, ave." he smirked. "only friends call me ave." i snapped. "only friends call me ash." he snapped back. "so we must be friends. we know each others nicknames." ashton sarcastically smiled.
"heres my number." he said, snatching my notebook and pen form me. "why would i want your number?" i shook my head. "we can be friends. i thnk lil over there is the only thing you got close to a friend." he notioned over to lily. "you're arrogant." i snapped. "why thank you, ave." he smiled. "you should just call me anytime you need anything." he smirked. "i think luke can supply those needs." i tried my best not to stutter. "i know luke. he only will make out with a girl. he tries to be a gentleman or some shit too much." ashton shook his head. "unlike you?" i smirked. "ave, babe. stop by anytime. just ask." he winked. "you're disgusting." i scoffed, stuffing his number in my apron pocket. "you do want it." he said. "who said i did?" i rolled my eyes. "you put it in your pocket. you didn't throw it back at me or rip it up." ashton was right. i had been wanting action for awhile. i respected luke for his 'gentlemaness' but i wanted something more than kissing all the time. "what do you want to eat?" i laughed. "get me spaghetti." i breathed out. "i want a coke this time. told you i change my order." i chuckled under my breath before walking to the kitchen to turn in his order and retrieve his drink.
