Ms Elizabeth,
I must open this letter with an apology, my dearest friend. I did receive your last few letters but couldn't bare to put my pen to paper to inform you of the events that have unfolded here in London. I had become unfortunate enough to have gazed into the eyes of monsters and tasted the poison on their lips, in these past few months I have learned more of love, friendship and betrayal than I have in my seventeen years.
when I was a young girl, my mother had often recited to me that monsters live among us and lurk in the darkness of men's souls awaiting for young women to fall victim to their charms. I had often thought my mother prejudice was that of a daft bigoted woman sorrowed by an unfaithful husband, and now my time here in London has proved my mothers fears true. London has been nothing short of chaotic, I have fallen in love, battled monsters and felt the dagger of betrayal pierce my heart. The events hold too much detail for me too recite on these pages but I hope once I'm back in the Scottish county side we can meet.
Forever your friend,
Clara Williams.
