Inside her New York one bedroom apartment, the lights are dim and candles are lit as she listens to calming music after a hectic day of work, errands and heavy subway traffic. The sounds of the raindrops hitting her air conditioner is almost in sync with the music. She's wearing an oversized sweater from a city she's never been to but it brings her comfort with her legs crossed into a pretzel on the couch. As the light from her phone screen brighten her face, she scrolls down to see the average life of her friends and family, she sighs because it's nothing she hasn't seen before. Until she see's the one that makes her heart skip a beat. She pauses for a moment to look at every part of his defined jaw line, his hazel eyes and perfect smile. With miles keeping them apart she brings her head back and paints a picture of what she'd do if she were in his presence. She always seemed to like it when it rains, it brought her peace because it was quiet, while the world went on, time stopped for her. She basked in the peace that she felt imaging herself sitting side by side talking to him. It's a quiet moment, they're looking deep into each other's eyes as he rubs her hands and talk about what's on their minds. She knows that life at the moment isn't where he'd like it to be. See, he's been going through hardships that most wouldn't know how to manage, but he was strong. He was always strong, but even the strongest warriors fall down in a moment of weakness. Her life hasn't been a fairytale either but she puts it aside for him because she knew that even though he wouldn't admit it, he needed her. He needed someone to calm down the fires in his mind. She walks to her window to watch the rain, with every rain drop becoming heavier, it's almost as if her thoughts of him becomes stronger. With her head rested against the window, she thinks about his arms around her, feeling his heartbeat on her back as he brings her closer to him. How could life be so unfair that she couldn't have the one she constantly thinks about with her, but she knew that if she kept her faith strong, the moment will come along. As she gazes off into the clouds, she thought about her hands gently running around his stubbled jaw line, running her hands through his hair as he lays his head on her lap. She can't help but think about that moment, it's all she could ever think about because she knew that no one else would love him more than she could, and she knew that deeply. She closes her eyes and thought his lips, how sweet they'd taste, how soft they'll feel and her heart begins to beat just a little faster. She exhales with chills sent all throughout her body because her mind pictured her bringing him closer to her, wrapping her arms around his neck as they kiss like there were no tomorrow. You'd think that things will get more intense but no, it's that kind of kiss that's slow and passionate. It's that kind of kiss that's where they did not want want to rush a single thing because they both knew every minute is sacred. His hands wrapped around her waist as he brings her up tightly to him, each kiss is sent with a message of love and want. She smiles and places her hand on her heart, the thought of it felt too real, way too real so her mind continued to paint a beautiful canvas. Both hands on her face, as he whispered "I've wanted this for a really long time, I've thought about this moment right here for too many nights." "Me too." she says with a soft smile as they both go in for many passionate kisses. She felt butterflies, her heart paces as if it were actually happening but alas, it was just her mind. The rain starts to become stronger as light thunder starts to crash, she thought about him endlessly. She opens her eyes, and let's out a soft sigh, she walks back to her couch and scrolls down through his pictures. She about his eyes, his lips but most importantly, that moment she drew in her mind. He was the kind of guy that was "too good to be true" but she knew that he was just a person, there was more to him than just looks. He was the kind of person that had a heart way too good for this earth, he was kind, gentle but also so adventurous. She knew that even with a perfect exterior, there was more to his story. She knew some of his pain, she wanted to help him, she wanted to bring back his peace even when he thought he'd lost it. He had to put a mask on so the rest of the world didn't see what was troubling him because he refused to be anyone's burden, so he chose to be strong for those around him. She thought, "My love, if I had the chance, I'll take your pain away, I'll help you find and feel that peace. You deserve the world."  And he did. That man was the kind of person you'd imagine the rest of your life with, not because of what he did or accomplished but because you saw beyond that. She didn't want anyone else, with so many in the world, her heart always directed her to him, she wish she knew exactly why but there were too many reasons. So she did what she did best, imagine. She imagined for hours on end about what she'd do, what she'd say, but there were so many things she brought to her mind. While the music help fuel her muse, her mind was on him. With every possible thing she could think of, she thought about the moment he'd finally notice her, what will it take? What more could she do? Things like this crossed her mind every minute of the day, she felt love without falling love and a love like that would be too powerful. Could something like this really happen? Is it possible that two people can really connect in a way she thought it would? So many questions and not enough answers, she knew that even with the slightest chance, it was possible. The impossible is always possible. She believed deeply in romance, she believed that there is a soulmate for everyone and that above all, love is the most important thing. Love wasn't always an easy ride for her but until you could get to the real thing, you have to go through trials to really know the difference between real and what you thought was "real". However, she could not stop thinking about the one that makes her heart skip a beat. "If only I could tell you how lovely you make me feel inside." she quietly said to herself. "If I could look into your eyes right now, I wouldn't know where to start but also, I would not where to end." She thought of the endless things she'd say, she knew so strongly in her heart that one day she will get the moment. She was also afraid that she wouldn't be good enough because she too had a story for miles. Her life was all over the place, she felt that even with a love so strong, it may not be good enough for someone like him to stay. She felt like no matter how good of a person she was, no matter how gifted and how much of an out-going person she was, there will always be someone better and the worry of someone else having the chance to the one her heart glowed for will be taken by someone less deserving. But she believed in true love, she believed that with a pure heart and pure intentions, love over comes all. She walks to her kitchen and imagined them making a meal together, the kitchen is filled with love, they're laughing and enjoying the beauty of cooking a meal that was made with love. He'll pick her up and sit her on the counter as he tells her how beautiful her smile is, he'll look into her eyes and get lost in her glow. He'll bring her hair behind her ears and admire her beauty. "How are you so beautiful?" he says, as he brings her closer for a kiss. It's simple things like this that'll make her heart burst right through her chest. She walks to her bedroom and falls onto her bed, her arms hold the pillow and imagines herself waking up to him on a Sunday morning as her finger tips softly glide along his face. Watching him sleep, she too would admire his beauty. She looks up at her ceiling and continues to day dream about that Sunday morning. The energy in the room, feels blissful, it would be most peace they've felt in a while, as the birds chirp to welcome in the morning. She's resting her head on her left hand, watching him sleep as the sun rises. The sunlight is peaking on his bed frame and also angling perfectly behind him. He'll wake up to her hand appreciating every edge and curve of him and slowly grin. Their legs are intertwined and there is no chance of them separating. "Hey" as he softly stretches, "Have you been up long?" "Just a little, but it's okay." She says, as he caresses her cheek. He brings her in for a kiss and her heart begins to race. He pulls her body onto him and kisses her. She opens her eyes and thinks damn, can this finally happen? Her mind is locked in on that wishful Sunday morning while she runs her hands through her hair. Next on her shuffle playlist is one of her favorite love songs and she smiles because the lyrics takes her away to a level she could only wish she was in. "You give me butterflies, got me flying so high in the sky, I can't control the butterflies." A song so beautifully written by Alicia Keys, she sings along. She imagines a moment where she's playing the piano, singing and dedicating this song to him. He starts to fall in love with her  voice, music would be the strongest connection they'll share. He'll feel goosebumps throughout his body and think how did he get so lucky to meet someone like her. With so many scenarios running through her mind, she thinks about how each moment she thought of will feel in real life but she continues to wait patiently just like she has countless times before. She truly believed in her heart that they are meant to be together, to create, to love, to support and much more, but she was so patient. And she will be, she'll wait as long as she needs to until she is finally in his arms. She picks up her phone one last time before bed and writes an update that maybe one day he'll come across and feel a connection to, she glances at his pictures once more and says to herself "One day, my love, one day.." She shut off her phone, switches to her side as she brings readjusts her head on the pillow while bringing her other pillow tighter to her and closes her eyes to go to sleep with the one that makes her heart glow in her dreams. "One day" she whispers, "One day." The sound of the rain brought her peace, with the sound of the rain she fell asleep.
