Janey's Story
Weeks passed and still nothing came Janey's way. Although for others, it seemed a relief, for Janey in particular, it seemed almost too much to bare. Why was there nothing? Were they just trying to kill her with the suspense?
Every mission was beginning to get unbearable and even being outside made her feel like a target.
The day of the first attempted assassination, Janey was out with Cassidy and Kyla
Cassidy had somehow persuaded Janey to go out and have a little fun, despite Lincoln's pleads not to. They were walking down a street full of shops when a random Brazilian fellow approached them.
He had dark tanned skin and his hair was tied up in man bun. A loose tank top hugged his torso and knee length khaki shorts completed the look.
"Hi," he greeted with a charming smile. "I'm Adrian."
Janey smiled at him, although sceptic.
"I'm Hannah," she lied earning a scoff from Cassidy.
"Oh come on, I know Adrian. We always meet whenever we go shopping. He's an amazing guy. No need to go all business on him. Tell him your real name," Cassidy uttered.
Janey shot her a glare.
"Fine, fine. I'm Andrea."
Cassidy didn't bother confronting her this time.
"I thought you said you were bringing Janey today," Adrian said in his Brazilian accent.
"Janey's busy today so she brought me instead," Janey spoke before Cass had the chance to.
"Oh really? Is she on one of those missions?"
Janey froze for a second before turning to Cassidy and Kyla, who didn't seem to see a problem with it.
"You told him?" She asked in disbelief.
"Adrian is trustworthy," Kyla shrugged.
"I have people out to kill me. You can't just go around telling people about our work!"
"Adrian isn't going to kill you, right Adrian?"
He smiled at her but Janey didn't miss the slight mischief in his eyes.
"Of course I wouldn't. Now let's go to the nearest park," he responded, walking ahead. Cassidy and Kyla immediately followed.
Janey trailed behind, pulling out her phone to tell Linc what had happened.
The park seemed out of place. There were few trees and buildings surrounded every corner of it. If anyone wanted to kill her, it was the best place. It was an open area and Adrian didn't even help when he made them sit in the dead centre, where even on top of any of the buildings, someone could shoot at her.
"Could we sit, uhm, elsewhere?" Janey asked.
"Why? This place is wonderful. It has the best view!" Adrian explained.
