She was a happy child that smiled all the time

Little did they know there was a storm inside

Raging nonstop

While she smiles sweetly at you she is hiding the damage

The pain that constantly ails her

She never thought about it much

Until one day she grew up

It got even worse and more painful than before

Hiding it got harder

The tears began to show

Tearing her heart apart

Ripping at her brain

She hides it to protect her family

To protect her friends

She acts fine all the time

When she really isn't

Only very few people know the pain that tears her apart

They know her false smiles and laughter

She tries to hide the tears and bottle the emotions

The storm is slowly getting stronger

She is getting weaker

Slowly crumbling away on the inside

Looking out on the world with a bittersweet smile

Knowing that one day she and everyone she knows will die

The numbness that creeps in every once in awhile is a relief

Rarely does it come to her

The realization that she is wasting her time on bottling herself up

Locking her heart away in a box so no one can reach it

Waiting for the day that it will all just stop and disappear

The sad reality of it is that it will never go away

Healing takes time

But she is so far into this dark void she can's find the way out

Running down the dark tunnels and halls

Looking for the exit sign

Looking for some sign of life

Looking for the light she used to carry within

The light that died inside of her long ago

The storm inside her never ceases to exist

Never seems to stop

Always tearing her apart

Slowly eating her away like moths eating fabric

Now she is nothing but a shell
