I settle down in my office and I start to eat my breakfast, I sigh and pull out the very thin folder on the Lucy walker case. I begin to read and I try to connect the dots. However I'm interrupted by a buzz in my jean pocket. I pull out my phone and see who's calling me. It's my boss. The head of the department. "Hello" he begins "You are gonna wanna come down here". I'm confused I already have a case what could he want now? "Uh ok" I say shocked "where are you?" I ask. He takes a while to say anything."Maples garden" he finally replies. All of a sudden my body tenses up that is the same place we found Lucy walkers body. "I'll be there right away" I insist without hesitation. I gather the folder together and lock it back into its case. picking up my keys I run out of the door and get into the car.
I can hardly concentrate on the road, I'm only thinking about what this all could be. When I finally arrive I go straight to the area we found Lucy walkers body. They are there. And a mans corpse lays on the ground.
I gulp in fear, this mans body is placed exactly the same way as Lucy's. He lays flat on the ground facing up, a diamond necklace hangs tightly around his neck.
His eyes. Cold. Nothing.
My boss heads towards me carrying a gun. "Harry Parker, that's his name" he begins. I stare at his eyes, this is not a coincidence. We have a killer on our hands and he's trying to send a message.
"The eyes" I say hypnotized. "They're the same as Lucy's" I look down and then turn to face my boss. "Yes they are" he clears his throat "we've checked the area, no forensic evidence pointing towards the killer again" I sigh and walk towards the man. I kneel down next to him and I pull the necklace from around his neck. My boss walks over to me and says "again no wounds, or signs of struggle". I look at his hands and see the gun "who does that belong too". He looks down at his hands "this was Harry's, he worked in the police force in another town" he goes on "he was on duty so had this gun". I nod and look down to the floor. "Ok well take the necklace into forensics again and try to make out who this belonged too". The necklace looked exactly the same as the other but the killer was trying to send a message so could have stole multiple of the exact same one.
We get back to the office and we hand the necklace into forensics. They check the serial number. Once they've finished they walk into the office holding it. "Miss" one of them said. "It has the same serial number". My face drops "what that's impossible" I insist. They all look at me "yes we know, this is the same necklace miss". I hold my head in my hands. "are you sure?" I ask. They nod "the other one is missing, so" I gulp realizing what must have happened "so the killer broke in and stole it". one of them nods.
My mind is blank how could this happen.
