Hi, my name is Brooklyn-Grace. I am 13 years old from Miami, Florida. I just moved to Wild Wood, New Jersey. Now I am in a new school, new people, new friends. Almost everything new, besides the family... at least I thought so. But 2 months ago have been the hardest times of my life not just because I moved to a whole new state but because of the people who could care less of what they do to others. So here is my story.
It was almost 2 o'clock and I have 2 new friends, very nice! Their names are Lauren and Alli. Alli was going over Lauren's house, but Lauren and Alli didn't want to keep me left out so Lauren invited me too. I had to ask my mom, we had it all planned out before school ended. Alli, Lauren, and I would arrive at her house around 2:30, then we would just hang out until 4:30. Lauren's mom would drive Alli and I home. So that way I would be home for dinner. 5 minuets before the bell rang. The school said on the intercom "some parents are here and some couldn't make it, so we are letting all the kids who's parents are here go. There is major tornados coming and hitting Wild Wood and almost all on New Jersey. So I'll call out the names of kids who's parents are here by grade." Finally 8th grade was called for the kids to come down " Lauren, Garrett, Lauri, Allesandra, Nova, Grace, James, Arron, Malcome, William, Jermey, Joe, Mary, Lola, Lindsey, Evan, Ethan, Beven, Rosie, Carmine." Everyone except Alli and I. My little sister McKenna had to come upstairs our teacher had to stay with us. I felt like we were in lockdown. But then it hit me Lyla, she is at daycare. Thankfully I had my phone with me. I called the daycare and said " my mom isn't at my school the tornado doesn't hit for 30 minuets can you please bring her to my school it's only 5 minuets away. Please?" The daycare instructor said "yes! Lyla is the only kid here so I can bring her." The relief felt nice! That I know she is coming. Then as I hung up the intercoms rang and the secretary said "Brooklyn come down your mother is here" I said "wait! what about Alli and my teacher!" she said "Alli you may go with Brooklyn and your teacher can go home!" so Alli, McKenna, the teacher, and I ran to our cars and here comes Lyla and her daycare instructor. She we take Lyla and go. We were driving down the street to bring Alli home but on her driveway we saw her parents dead on the driveway. Alli's mouth dropped she said " if their gone I have to go." I said "no we have to go. You know your parents won't want you to die like this." Alli says " I know." We start driving away. Alli trying to cry... but nothing came out!
Then McKenna screams "mommy look!" We all look behind us and there was the tornado my mom drive as fast as she could but then we got in the highway and dead stop a whole line of cars. Nobody could move. The tornado kept coming closer and closer. Finally my mom found this stranded motorcycle and said "go take this" but there was only 3 helmets. So me driving Lyla, the 2 month old baby hooked on to me by a blanket. My best friend holding my 5 year old sister. Off we went my mom on her knees begging for mercy. So finally we found this hill my mom told us to go on if there is ever a tornado or earthquake. 20 minuets later we got to the top of the mountain but we heard a cry... a baby cry. But it wasn't Lyla. I went to go look in the bushes and there was another, looked like a 2 month old baby girl. With a name tag on her saying "if you found me my name is Josie. I have all the stuff I need in the bad next to me. Please take me. I have no one else." So I took Josie and all 4 of us just sat there watching the tornado hot everyone we loved and cares for. About 1 hour later the tornado past by. And firemen, police officers came helped us. Checked all of us and thankfully nothing was wrong with Josie or Alli, McKenna, and I. The EMT said "do you know her because if not we have to take her." I said "yes, she is my step sister. 2 months old." But he looked at Alli and said "sisters?" meaning Alli and I she said "no her mom saved my life. We are best friends." The police officer said " Ok, we will take you to the adoption center. There is this person named Johannah and she want 4 girls your age." I said "okay". We get there hoping Johannah would say yes to take us home. And she did.
It's been 1 whole year since we have been with Johannah and it's been so fun. We moved to Billerica, Massachusetts. And now feel wonderful It still doesn't feel like real home but it feels like home.
