I'm waiting outside school with Sage.

"He so totally likes you," she is saying.

I shake my head, laughing. "Why me?"

"Because you're gorgeous, sweet, kind and it's so obvious you're in love with him!" she grins.

"Ssshhh! He probably doesn't even feel the same way. Up to yesterday, I didn't even know he knew I existed." I tell her firmly.

"So you make the first move," she says. "Girl power, and all that."

Someone taps me on the shoulder and I spin round, surprised.

Myles.

He's grinning at me.

Aaahhh!

He didn't hear that did he?!

I hope not.

"Hey, Bri," he says.

Bri!!!

"Can you meet me at the car park later?" he asks, looking hopeful.

"Um," I mumble.

Sage stamps on my foot.

"Ouch! I mean yes, of course,"

"Great I'll see you at 2,"he says, and smiling walks into school.

I turn round to Sage and we both jump up and down squealing.

Boys passing look and chuckle.

" It's a girl thing, "one mutters, which only makes us laugh more.

" OhmygodhecalledyouBri!!! "Sage shrieks.

" Ssh. "I laugh." I know. Oh god........ Do you think he heard what I said?! About liking him?! Is that what he wants to talk to me about?! " I panic.

Sage grabs my shoulders.

" Chillax, you two are a match made in the very top of Heaven. You're Bryles. Briar and Myles, and everyone knows it, even Myles. He's besotted with you! "

" That I can agree with, "a low voice says from behind me.

I spin around.

It's the guy who made the 'it's a girl thing' comment.

" He adores you, "he continues.

" Sorry, who are you, "I interrupt.

" Oh, yeah sorry, "he laughs." I'm Devon. "

We must have looked blank because he carried on," Myles's best friend. "

" But Myles didn't even know I existed, "I protest.

" Is that what you think? Well, you're wrong. Very wrong. But I shouldn't be the one to tell you that."and he walks off.

Weird.

Sage frowns," Well, I guess you'll find out later, when you meet Myles. "

In the weirdness of Devon, I completely forgot meeting him.

After lunch, I try to escape but Shelby and Sage grab me and tug me along.

" No! "I shriek." It might be a joke! "

" Well, you're never gonna find out if you don't go, "Shelby tells me, calmly.

I see Myles on his phone, waiting by car.

They push me towards him,

" Don't stammer! "

" Stay calm! "

I look behind me and they both give me thumbs up.

I'm making death motions towards them when Myles looks up.

" Bri? I look at him." Hey."

" Um, hey, "I say.

" So Devon dropped me in it. I better explain. Thing is I like you Briar.
LIKE like you. From our first ever class, I was drawn to you. Like a magnet. I was just too shy, "he blushes, rubbing his neck.

Wait, he likes me?! LIKE like on me?! I make him nervous?

All I've ever wanted was for him to say those words. That he likes me too.

He produces a bouquet of flowers. I hear my friends' squeals behind me.

" I like you too," I admit.

He grabs his phone.

Wait, was this
a prank.?

He takes a selfie. "There," he says and shows me.

He's on his Insta page. 'Taken by the most perfect person in my world' it declares.

Alerts ping from phones around us and we're covered in a chorus of'aww's'

"Thank you," I whisper.

"No thank YOU," he says. "For making me so happy."

I melt into his arms.

Just before our lips meet, "MYLES!!"

A woman runs up to us. "You didn't get her roses?!"

"Mum," he sighs.

"Hi,Mrs Nolet" I say, extending a
hand. "I'm-"

"BRIAR!" she shrieks, ignoring my hand, and enveloping me in a massive hug.

"I've heard SO much about you. He's in love," she whispers.

"Thanks (!) Mum," Myles blushes.

I grab his hand.

"Call me Franci, dear," Myles's mum told me. "Now a selfie with the happy couple!"

Myles slings an arm around me. "Beach tomorrow?"

"Sure," I grin, happily.
