Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

Friday, March 22, 2021

Want to hear more about whats going on in the prison cells now a days? No? Well too bad you're about to read it today. Marcus Garavito is being put on trial to be released early. Marcus Garavito is the man that confessed killing over 100 boys in court. The boys were between the ages of 6 and 16, killed during the years of 1995-1999.

He was originally supposed to be sentenced 60 years in prison. However, he helped the police find his victims his sentence went down to 22 years. He was scheduled to be released in year 2021 for good behavior. Thats now!

Police officers and guards have been called to the stand. They have said he is relaxed, positive, and respectful. He is studying to be a politician, and after he is released he hopes to become an activist, and help abused children. Ironic isnt it?

The police need every victim of Marcus Garavito to testify at Garavito's court hearing. They sent this message, " WE WOULD LIKE ALL VICTIMS OF LUIS GARAVITO TO COME AND TESTIFY FOR OR AGAINST HIM. WE NEED YOUR HELP."

Rico Torres.

...

I can't believe what I am reading. He's on trial to be released. How? After all he did! After all the people he tortured and killed. Me included.

I hate myself for not helping others escape. I wish it wouldve just been me. I didnt want other boys to go through the suffering I did. I was his first "special", after all. That's what he called us. The kids that he kept in his house, or wherever we were.

I don't think I should do it. I don't want my family to find out about that part of my past. I tried so hard to forget and move past it. I don't want to relive it either. I don't want to remember. I hope they don't make me remember.

...

"Detective Stark I would like to see you in my office please." Chief Miles says from his office door frame. I knew it must be urgent since he requested me. I nodded my head towards him as I started to get up from my desk. "I assume you know this case I am going to assign is serious since I called you in."

"Yes, sir." He gestures for me to take a seat across from him while he sits down in his large office chair in front of the desk between us.

"I assume you heard about Garavito?" Chief ask with a quirk if his right brow. He leans forward on his desk letting me know he means business.

"Yes, he's being out on retrial." I answer.

"How do you feel about that?"

"Well, that's a tough one. I don't approve of what he did to those boys. But if he is seriously remorseful and has had good behaviour, then he should get a second chance to redeem himself. Now many others won't agree with that and that is why we need his victims to come forward and hear him out to decide if he should be released." I shrug and a fold my hands in my lap.

"Thats what I like about you, Stark, you're always open minded and level headed. That's why I'm putting you on this case. I need you to find, if any, live victims of Luis Garavito. We have already found some possible cases and even a newspaper article has been sent out. I'm hoping some will come forward, but you know how victims are." He says shaking his head with a frown.

"Yes, yes I do." I respond. Its silent between us for a few seconds as we both think about the tragedy of victims that are too scared to testify. It's understandable, but still sad and disappointing.

"Well here's the file of people that we think could be possible victims. Some are in an institution because they never truly recovered, and others are living the best way they can." He hands me the file. I open it and scan the file. One name catches my eye. I look up at my boss and he nods at me saying "even him" with his face. I stand, shake my bosses hand, and leave. Time to find him.
