Song- somewhere over the rainbow (live)
Prologue| Ocean
December 5th, 2019We sat there as we watched him glide along the ice with his hockey stick in hand, moving the puck from side to side.
With one shot he managed to make the winning shot.
Everyone in the stands cheer as loud as they can while i'm at home with my friends, cheering as loud as we can.
"People!" My mother yelled from the top of the stairs, "Others are trying sleep, and you should too, considering it's a school night."
"Sorry mom." I answer her.
"Sorry." Everybody else yells up to her.
"What are we gonna do without your mom?" Aaron asks as he puts an arm around my shoulder and ruffles my hair.
"Yeah man, we could end up arrested without her." Tasha says, wiping an imaginary tear from her eye.
"We're gonna miss you man." Ryan tells me.
"I'm gonna visit guys. I'll visit like," I thought for a moment, "at least three times a year."
"But what are we gonna do about cheerleading camp in the summer?" Asiah asks, throwing her hands in the air.
"I actually might be here for that." I tell her, turning the tv off.
"Really?" She asks excitedly clapping her hands together for a moment.
"Keyword might." I say, leaning into Aaron's arm.
"Not trying to be cheesy or anything but, I'm gonna miss you guys." I tell them.
"We'll miss you too." Aaron says, ruffling my hair. "Now let's see what on tv."
"We were just watching tv." Asiah says.
"I don't care." He replies.
-
"I can't believe we're about to do this." I say, getting into the passenger seat of Asiah's car.
"If the people on tv can do it, then we can." Ryan tells me in a duh tone.
"Reminder!" Aaron yells, "Don't die or get seriously injured."
"I'm so ready for this." Tasha says, rubbing her hands together while leaning her seat back.
Asiah grins as she starts the car and rolls out of the driveway.
"We're gonna die." I mumble to myself.
Asiah smacks my arm playfully while shaking her head, "No we're not. We'll be fine. I've got 911 on speed dial." She winked.
"If you say so." I tell her, "but what if someone breaks a leg or arm or something."
"Backflipping on skateboards? No," she waved it off, "we'll be fine, and if not then we'll all pitch in with the hospital bill."
"Yeah." Aaron pitched in, "We'll be fine babe." He tells me, ruffling my hair.
"We're almost there guys." Asiah tells us all.
A couple minutes later we pull into a half filled parking lot next to a dark skatepark. "Well at least some people are here other than us." I say, trying to make myself feel better.
"Yeah, maybe Asiah will finally find a cute guy." Tasha teases from the back seat.
"Maybe." Asiah agrees. "Alright let's go beeches."
We got out of the car and grabbed our stuff then headed for the park, my hand in Aaron's.
The gate creaked as we came in, causing a couple of people to look at us, some of them waved while the others just looked.
