In This Together (RE2:Leon Kennedy x OC)

Chapter 7

                      Leon's POV

     We run out the jail door. I keep Airam's hand tightly in mine as we quickly head towards exit. We don't get far before the tyrant busts through the wall. He picks me up by my throat and tosses me to the side.

     I groan when my back hits the ground hard. I roll onto my side, pushing myself up. My heart stops when I see he's got a hold of Airam, who struggles to free her arm from his grip. "Airam!"

     He yanks her towards him, his fist hitting her stomach, successfully knocking her out. He carries her under his arm as he begins to leave.

     I fire my pistol twice at his head, causing him to pause. "Let her go!"

     He tosses her aside and turns around, making quick steps towards me. He picks me up by my throat again and begins to strangle me.

     A car starting up gets him to look. There's screeching tires as the van rams into him, causing him to drop me. I hold my throat, coughing and gasping. I watch as Ada steps out of the driver's side.

     "Ada?!"

     She looks at me as she walks by. "This is getting old..." She points back at me. "Saving your ass- That's twice."

     I get up quickly. "I didn't realize you were keeping score." I run to Airam, kneeling beside her unmoving form. I pull her into my arms.

     "Look! This isn't a game!" Ada exclaims as she stops to look at me.

     I quickly aim my gun when the van starts to move, the tyrant pushing it. "You gotta be kidding me..."

     "Nothing dies down here."

     I shield Airam when the van explodes. I look from the fiery mess to Ada as she lowers her arm. She looks over at me. "I take it you have the keycard?"

     I nod and pull the recorder out of my pocket. "Yeah. And this..." I toss it to her, which she catches easily. "I was hoping you could explain what's on it."

     She looks at it before looking at me. "Maybe... After I hear it. Let's get out of here." She walks towards the exit.

     I look at Airam, wiping the blood away from her mouth. I scoop her up in my arms and stand up, walking after Ada. "He tried to kill me but he kept going for Airam. The whole time he was chasing us, he kept trying to catch her."

     "Maybe he had a crush on her." Ada tosses over her shoulder.

     I set Airam's feet on the ground so I can get the pass out. I insert it and the shutters begin to rise. I lift her legs back up and walk over to Ada.

     Ada goes through first, ducking down a little. I follow after once they rise over my head. I look at Airam when her head lulls to the side, into the crook of my neck.

     I shake my head when the cold rain hits my face. I look to see if the rain wakes up Airam but it doesn't.

     I see Ada put the recorder away. "Is that the intel you needed?"

     "Unfortunately, no. Ben didn't come through." She holds her arm above her, to shield her face from the rain.

     I continue to follow her through the abandoned street. "Well, what exactly are you looking for?"

     "More info on the people responsible for this mess." She answers my question before asking her own. "What about you? Trying to save the world?"

     "I told Lieutenant Branagh I'd bring help." I look down at Airam's sleeping face. "And I'm getting Airam out of this mess."

     "Good luck at getting help..." She stops at the end of the road. "... Road's out." She turns away and walks towards the gun shop. "Going through that gun shop looks like the only way."
