What doesn't kill you doesn't make you stronger.
It doesn't help you learn,
It doesn't make you wiser,
And it doesn't give you courage.
What doesn't kill you fractures your heart.
It leaves scars,
It leaves cracks,
And it leaves a gaping wound in your chest.
What doesn't kill you gives you a chance.
It gives you someone to depend on,
To love and to love you,
To slowly fill those cracks and make you stronger.
Until one day it won't hurt anymore.
No, what doesn't kill you doesn't make you stronger,
It gives someone the chance to strengthen you.
And when they inevitably leave the cracks come back,
Growing as you wait for their return,
And when they do they fill those cracks with diamond,
So that you can never be broken again.
