A smile was permanently stuck on her rose-pink lips as she skipped around on school grounds. Spring was finally here, and she felt it in her entire body. All the Sakura trees that surrounded the school buildings were in full bloom and pink petals danced along the gentle breeze. If you asked any of her classmates, they would all agree, the girl known as Akiyama Utau would always be cheerful and smile to everyone, including herself, but today, she could really say herself that she was happy. After all, who wasn't during Rakuzan High School's school festival? The school festival was when everyone at school came together to welcome anyone who was interested in starting there. Students came from all around as the well-known school opened their doors. The different clubs did their best to advertise themselves and everyone was on their best behaviour.

Nearly all corners of the school grounds were crowded as she finally closed in on her destination. Just like any other day she skipped in through the main building and quickly ran up the stairs to the fourth floor.

"Ah, Aki-chan! Will you help me out with getting this to the stage?"

I put my hands on my knees and breathed out, all that skipping really tires you out. My hand could feel the bicycle shorts that I always wore underneath my school uniform and I giggled as I looked down on the plaster on my left leg. Just yesterday was the last time I tripped over thin air... My clumsiness was then again beyond compare.

After a light sigh I looked up to Sato-senpai and smiled at her as she handed me some various parts of her drum set.

"Ah, these stairs will be the death of me some day!"

I heard panting behind me and couldn't help but laugh as Watanabe-senpai stepped up behind me with a thin layer of sweat shining underneath her olive-green locks. She brought up a handkerchief from her handbag and neatly wiped it off before inspecting what we were doing.

"Are you going to take the instruments now? Do you know how many people there is down there?"

I looked over to Sato-senpai who just looked down on her cellphone.

"Basketball team is going to start within a few minutes, no one that's attending wants to miss that."

"I don't want to miss that! Ugh, the basketball team is just..." Watanabe-senpai never finished her sentence as she entered some dreamlike state where she was probably swooning over the boys in her head.

"Watanabe-chan, no time for daydreaming. Everyone is already at the gym. Let's go."

Kagome-senpai said as she carried her bass in a bag on her back. But the dreaming girl didn't even notice her presence.

"Watanabe-chan?" Still no luck, "Watanabe Yui! World calling!"

I laughed as she nearly started drooling and decided to poke her on the forehead. She flinched at my touch and then quickly cleared her throat, pretending nothing happened as she went inside the music room to grab her keyboard before storming down the stairs with Kagome-senpai following her.

"Aki-chan, would you mind helping out with the drums?" Sato-senpai asked with that usual smile on her face. She was a third year but still she looked even younger than me, a first year. Her face was just so doll like and being framed by her long raven waves just added to the doll-factor. My lips perked upwards in a response to her smile and I nodded and recieved the bass drum from her. My arms adjusted to the size of it before I turned and made my way down the stairs.

The large object in my grasp didn't stop me from skipping towards the stage that unfortunately was placed on the other side of school grounds. Not that I cared, small things like that never even bothered my cheerful existence. It was amazing how the grounds that just minutes before had been crowded now were nearly empty with only the exceptions of a few figures. My thoughts had wandered, and I found myself halfway to my destination. With a big smile still stuck on my face I kept skipping my way towards the slight downhill when a bird shook the branches on the tree next to me causing me to flinch. As I flinched the drum slipped out of my grasp and I watched in panic as it landed on its side and began rolling down the hill.
