"If it is logical, it's not love." - Tapan Ghosh, Faceless

----

For Kongphob, a romance story was, just the usual story. He wasn't someone who believe that two people who met, then falling in love, will become one and then everything just become happy ending. He has seen what really happened in reality, and it's not as beautiful as they depicted it to be.

P' Suda, his first sister married because of love. Just like a cliché, they met in a bookstore as they reached for the same book. They dated and got married, without an honest blessing from our parents. No, not another cliché where one side is rich and the other poor. Honest to God that it didn't happen like that. P' Suda and P' Ohm, they always fighting during their period of dating. Too great that even everybody else would scarce themselves once their voice reaches a higher notes.

But they're in love, is what they said.

It doesn't stop even when N' Rin was born. Kongphob was fed up with their intimate and empty sweet talk that could suddenly turns into hissing and curses.

So, Kongphob chose to trust in his logic. His feeling is not always right, it could lead him to a toxic relationship, poisoning him. But then again, that feeling is what led him to meet that person. Yeah, that senior with a grumpy face, but when there's nobody else around him, would make a sad expression, as if he wishes to apologize and retracted his mean words.

Everything began when he walked limply on the deserted campus street. The street lamp already lit since an hour ago, and once again he cursed in his heart that he still can't bring his beloved motorcycle to the campus. Faintly he could see a building from afar, the door ajar and one by one his classmates went out with tired face. Behind them, a senior standing straight with his maroon uniform. His face looks like somebody kick his puppy, too bitter and full of rage.

Oh. The hazing end for today.

No, it's not that Kongphob wanted to skip this hazing. But his parents were adamant that he skipped it. He just got into accident two months ago, you see. And his cast was off just three days ago. His parents was too worried their only son would injured himself again, or too tired to do things.

The last person went home, and the angry-looking senior release the tension on his shoulders. The angry lines were gone. His flawless face that is too fair for a guy showed what he really feels; tiredness. Kongphob realized then, that it's not only his classmates who feel bone tired, the senior must also feel It, even more so. He used to take part in this kind of settings, and he knows from experience that this is no easy job. A sympathetic feeling rose, but Kongphob was reluctant to stand under this street light, hidden like this. He feels like a creeper.

"Oy, Thit. Let's do an evaluation!" a call from another senior urged him to flee from the scene.

Ah.. Kongphob remember now. That senior name, was Arthit.

Kongphob met that senior again, in the food court not too far from his dorm when he went to find dinner. That place is packed as usual with hungry students, and Kongphob braced himself to get a takeaway. But then he saw that senior lounging around with his phone on his hands, alone. He looked relaxed with his short pants and loose t-shirt. He doesn't know what makes him do it, but Kongphob steeled himself to greet him.

"May I sit here?" he asked in a louder voice, afraid the senior won't hear him otherwise.

"Sure, sure." The senior said without looking up from his phone. Kongphob smiled helplessly and pulled the chair.

"Thank you, P' Arthit."

"Euy?!" P' Arthit was surprised, he zeroed his eyes to him. That too big eyes blinked a few times. Confused, Kongphob named it in his heart.

"Kongphob khrub, Phi. Freshman." He supplied. But P' Arthit only tilted his head, trying to remember. Just like a bulb suddenly lit beside his head, the senior's eyes brightened once he could matched his name with his memory.

"The freshman with the cast on his leg." P' Arthit said. Kongphob nodded.

"Already off for a few days, Phi."

"Hm. That's good. But still won't go to the hazing, huh?" P' Arthit squinted his eyes. He tried to show a tough senior persona in front of him, but it's no use.

"Still have to go to a physiotherapy."

"Hmmm.." now P' Arthit leaned his back to the chair, scrutinized him. Kongphob was saved from a waitress bringing what P' Arthit ordered, a sweet pinkmilk.

"Hey, I didn't order it!" P' Arthit denied. He looked embarrassed caught ordering this kind of drink in front of him.

"Euy. N' Arthit. You always order this whenever you're here. I won't forget." She insisted. she placed the drink and promptly went again.

Oh. There's a redness on P' Arthit's face. It shows so clearly..

P' Arthit still trying to be angry and reluctant to drink. He pout fiercely but his eyes always come back to his pinkmilk.

Cute.

Huh? What?

"I often order that drink too, Phi. It's so sweet." Kongphob chimed. His words succeed making P' Arthit rolled his eyes, but then the senior finally drink it.

"Then, if you're not attending the hazing, what would you do? go back home?" P' Arthit changed the topic.

"Ohh.. No khrub, Phi. I usually go to the library." his answer seems not to the senior's liking. KOngphob could heard him mumbling, "So pretentious.."

Kongphob smiled bitterly. It reminded him how he didn't chose to actually study here. He wants to make his parents happy. And what they need is not what Kongphob wants to do. So..

"I'm not smart, Phi. If I don't study diligently.. I would have bad marks. I have to remember how my parents have to pay for the tuition."

P' Arthit shrugged, prefers not to comment for it. they fell to a silence. The senior busied himself with his phone again and Kongphob chose to do the same as they wait for their order to come. He always like a rice omelet, so he chose it. But P' Arthit..

"The chilli.. it's too much." Kongphob can't help himself to comment and blinked his eyes to make sure what he sees as P' Arthit's food came.

"Why? This is delicious." The senior said. So it's like that, Kongphob thinks. The senior likes too spicy food, then he chose to drink too sweet drink.

"It matches, huh.."

"Huh?"

"Oh. No, Phi. Let's eat."

"Hm."

They eat in silence, too busy eating. Kongphob then excuse himself first when their food were gone and he didn't know what else to talk about.

What a weird night.. was what Kongphob thought.

Some trivia :

I mixed English words and sentence in my Bahasa edition. And it would be evident I use some kind of a more formal saying when I let the characters interact for the first time, and it would change once they got closer. In English you can't really see it, huh..
