Sherry's pov

I sat in the sanctum, reading through the books over and over again, trying to learn new magic. I wanted to be just like my dad, a strong wizard but I also wanted to have my granduncle's bravery. While I was studying, I watched as the ancient one walked in.

"Sherry. How is your studies going?" she asked. "I think their going good" I replied. She looked at me as I gave a smile.

I had been told a lot of times that my granduncle had been very sickly and weak before he became Captain America. I had a suspicion that I had the same problem since I had been born with leg paralysis.

I wanted to learn magic so that I could walk without crutches. The ancient one looked at me and sighed, ruffling my hair which was a mix of blond and brown. I just smiled up at her.

I sat in my room when I heard the sound of someone pounding on the door. I lifted my head from my book and growled in annoyance. "Who is banging on the door?" I grumbled, getting up. I walked down to the main area and saw some guy.

I recognised him as the guy from earlier when he had come begging for his hands to be healed. I instantly hated this guy. He seemed to only want to learn magic to benefit himself. He was nothing like what the heroes that worked in this day and age were like.

They had to be selfless in order to be able to help other people. They shouldn't want to do things for their own gain. I was completely shocked when the ancient one accepted him into the sanctum but I didn't say anything.

"So, are you a wizard too or do you just stay here?" someone asked. I looked up to see that guy there. "I'm a wizard. Unlike you, I actually want to help others, not help myself" I replied, turning back to my book after looking up at him.

"You could help me then" he explained. "Why? I'm not a teacher. I finished my classes but I don't teach. I protect the sanctum" I replied. "You seem knowledgeable on heroes. Why is that?" he asked.

I turned back to him, my hair wiping into my face. "I know a lot about heroes because I want to be a hero just like the rest of my family" I replied. "What's your name?" he asked.

"Sherry Rodgers" I replied plainly. "Wait. Rodgers like Steve Rodgers?" he asked. "Yes. Like Captain America. Now please leave me alone. I'm reading" I told him, turning back to my book.

I tried to read but I could tell he was still there. I whipped my head around to face him. "Could you please leave me alone. I don't want to talk if you can't tell" I told him.

"I just wanted to tell you that you like nice today" he replied. I rolled my eyes and turned back to my book, completely ignoring him now.
