Oh hello I am Summer, Summer Hart. I don’t have the blond hair the popular people die for but I do have a nice sandy blond hair colour with fluro green streaks. I am not fat but not skinny. I am neither smart nor dumb. I was a background person and I liked it that way but if I had of known my new summer job was about to point my life in a different direction maybe I would have thought twice about it. I flipped open the newspaper on a Sunday morning to the job section. I looked through the paper every Sunday to see if there were any jobs for a sixteen year old to do over the summer holidays to earn extra cash. Today was a huge let down I look through every job the only thing that was hiring anyone under eighteen were people looking for babysitters and trust me there is no way I was doing that.

So I headed off to the mall with the little cash I had to get some lunch with a friend. I was just about there when I looked in the window of a surf shop called “The Wave” there was a sign in the window that said “Staff needed urgently”. I walked into the shop and asked about the sign they said we are hiring students from the age of fifteen or over. I then asked if I needed to put together a résumé but they just said come in for an interview tomorrow afternoon. I texted my friend Sam to let her know I would be late.

Sam was one of those people who were almost popular but just not there. She used to have mouse brown hair until about a month ago when she dyed it dark purple the purple that is so dark that in some lights it looks black. She has a perfect figure and she doesn’t have to diet for months to get it. She is smart and knows how to manage social life and school I don’t know how she does it. But when I got there she was dressed in black skinny jeans and a bright pink t shirt that said “Don’t like it don’t look”. I felt very plain in my jeans and singlet. We sat down in the café for lunch and I told her about the wave and the job interview. Since she works only a few stores down at the grocery store she told me that a whole lot of staff quit all of a sudden from “ The Wave” and no one knows why. But all the hot guys go there she said.

After they had lunch we went to a gift shop at the far end of the mall. The we went to meet another friend and of course the only other person crazy enough to be our friend Maddy. Maddy was not the most athletic person but was always able to keep a good figure. She had dark brown hair with bright blue streaks, Maddy and I got them together. When we arrived Maddy had just finished her shift. We all then went back to her place. We talked about the wave and all the possible scenarios of why the staff quit. Maddy said “there could have been an angry French man who was throwing all the merchandise around so they quit before they were about to die.” Then I piped up that it could have been bogyman!! We all had a good laugh at that. Then we had lollies and ice-cream and fell asleep watching monsters Inc.

I was woken by the smell of freshly cooked pancakes. I tried to wake the others but they were dead asleep. I walked down stairs to find Maddy’s mum making a big plate of pancakes, bacon, eggs and more. Then my tunny let out a loud rumble. That got Maddy’s mums attention she saw me and said “oh, finally one of you three are up!” She handed me a try filled high with food she told me to take it to Maddy’s room and put it on her bench and wait till they smell the food and get up. I did as she instructed me and they got up with five minutes of me bringing the food in.
