Chapter 1
Sibling bonds through rivalryI was always in a competition with my twin Sapphire.
I was sitting in my our Mom's lap when Sapphire walked in.
"I want Mom's lap!" she said in a harsh tone.
"I was here first." I said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Rubilax scooch over some, there's room for both of you on my lap," my our mom Aquarix said
I groaned, but listened. See here, Mom's lap was the only thing Sapphire and I fought over. Everything else we shared.
When Sapphire and I were about five, our father Dranix took us to see our first fight. It was a brutal match, that's about all I can remember about it.
Dad put us into a fighting school, which taught us the basics of fighting. Our uncle Tremix taught us defence techniques as well as some nature magic.
"Uncle Tremix! Can I meet your Wolves of Timber?" I asked hopefully.
"Heh heh, why do you want to, my young nephew?" Tremix said, grinning.
"I wanna learn how to hunt with a pack and you have the closest pack here!" I said with excitement.
Uncle Tremix smiled and lifted his palm, calling his pack of Wolves of Timber. Each wolf was three fourths my height on all fours. Then a young wolf came up to sniff me, the son of the pack leader ironically named Timber. I called him Bear.
"Hey there, little Bear. How do you feel about me hunting with you?" I said smiling. The pup yipped in joy and looked at his father Timber who looked at Tremix. Uncle Tremix nodded in approval and off we went.
Bear ran ahead of me, to show me the routes the Wolves took. Timber took me aside when we got to the pack den.
"Don't try anything funny with your flames or I'll rip you to shreds." Timber had a growl that alpha's usually do, but this was more a warning than a threat.
"I won't, I'll use the nature magic Uncle Tremix taught me." I proved this by summoning a great tree close to the den.
Timber nodded in approval and we walked back to the pack. Bear tackled me and started licking my face, wanting to wrestle. I transformed into my young dragon form and started wrestling Bear.
Now a Wolf of Timber's teeth can rip through just about anything, so I had to be careful to avoid Bear's mouth. Bear and I tussled for a while until Timber came over.
"It's time to rest you two, save that energy for the hunt tomorrow." Timber nudged Bear to his mother.
I returned to my human form and laid down on the ground outside of the den. Many of the Wolves wove their way around me, laying down beside me. Giving me comfort and helping me sleep.
In the morning, Timber pulled the pack in for a meeting.
"Rubilax will come with us, but only watch the hunt take its course." The other Wolves howled in agreement.
"Fine, but if anything happens I will help." I look at Timber while stating this.
Timber nods and we go on to our hunt. We began to follow some large deer and Timber had me stay further back, for safety reasons. Bear stayed with me. The the howl of Timber, said scatter to those who know it.
A giant Blue Tiger was chasing one of the wolves. It crashed through the forest with great force. Then when the wolf caught sight of me it tried to stop, but ended up getting swatted forcefully to the side. This made Bear mad, he tried biting the beast but it was smart enough to avoid Bear's teeth.
