Madison could feel music vibrating the ground as she and her best friend Angela arrived late to the party. After listening to Angela her quirky friend, for the past two hours complain of how bored she was and how Maddy would turn into an old maid by age eighteen they had finally arrived. It was ten at night on a Friday and Tiffany the senior captain of the volleyball team was hosting a party after their win against the rival team. People were everywhere and they had to squeeze in to find a spot on the dance floor. Angela as always was the life of the party she danced her way from the door to the floor and Madison followed behind not enjoying the attention but wanting to be close in case her friend needed her. It has worked this way since middle school Madison was shy but she would get down if Angela needed her to have her back and vice versa. "I can't believe I let you talk me into this. " Maddie said as she shook her head at her friend moving her hips to "Country Girl" by Luke Bryan "and this dress" she continued as she looked at herself and pulled on the red dress that clung to her skin. Madison was 5'3 with golden brown skin and hair as black as night that hung down her back. Her mother cautioned her that her body would attract the ignorant side of the opposite sex which made her self conscious about her 34c cup breast size and 32 inch waist. Angela always told her she was soul food fine and tonight she was more nervous than usual with all her curves on display. Angela shook her head at her best friend "calm down Madison the guys have been checking you out since you walked in the door and me might I add. . We look hot! And if any one asks you were styled by Angela." Her best friend was crazy about fashion and any time they went some where Angela made sure they were dressed to impress she had to admit to herself that two guys did grab her hand on the way to the dance floor and it made her blush. "I'm going to find us something to drink , I won't be far" Madison Said taking a few steps towards the table where the drinks were. Angela didn't hear her she was sure as she looked back seeing Todd one of the football players grinding up behind her. She kept moving knowing Angela was having a good time. "Two sprites please" Madison said to the guy in front of her making drinks. "What do I look like a bar tender" the guy responded rudely before turning to look her up and down. Madison gave him an apologetic look more than he deserved but she didn't mean to offend she merely assumed and was going to say as much when "You don't have to be so rude I'm sure the beautiful girl didn't know, you were making drinks for multiple people Matt. You could have fooled me" Thomas laughed out loud. Madison gave him a smile nodding that those were her thoughts as well, silently thanking him with her eyes. He winked at her as he pushed his friends shoulders "yea whatever Thomas I'll catch you out back and bring that good arm with you" he said not acknowledging her at all again. "Thanks" Madison smiled again as she was reaching for the cups of ice but he was quicker "sorry about that he's a jerk some times but he's really a good guy. What are you drinking?" He said holding two cups in his hands "two sprites" Madison said again she could feel her cheeks blush over the attention he was showing her. She and Thomas had been going to the same school since elementary but have never spoken more than two words to each other. She'd never noticed how he had grown into the handsome young man he was portraying at this very moment. "I'm Thomas by the way" he said looking up at me with an angels smile. I let out a snort unintentionally, was he serious? He raised an eyebrow at me "Thomas we've been going to the same school since elementary" I managed to say before he became offended. He raised an eyebrow looking at me again with questioning eyes. I'm on the volleyball team, the math club and I'm in the after school college prep club with him for goodness sakes does he really not recognize me? I thought as I grabbed the cups out of his hands. "Thanks again for the drinks I said" as I turned to walk away a little embarrassed. Angela grabbed the cup from me before I had a chance to offer it to her "Thirsty much" I laughed watching her take the small cup of soda to the head. "Todd kept me on the dance floor for two whole songs" she laughed "and he asked to take me out to the movies tomorrow what do you think?" she asked looking at me with curious eyes. I looked over at Todd the 6'2 basketball player, with dark skin and broad, beautiful shoulders I knew he was her type. I shook my head "Definitely" I smiled at her, hopefully it seemed genuine I thought as I looked over my shoulder at the now empty table. At least tomorrow he'll remember her.
