We slow dance by the rhythm of the song “Thousand Years” by Cristina Perri. It was a slow song that made us feel the warm atmosphere.
But the atmosphere broke when he suddenly push me away. Philip is my prince charming, but this time he was my worst enemy. He doesn’t want me as his partner he wants Katniss Right instead. But he has no choice whether he likes it or not he should be my partner, why? Because Katniss is with her famed boyfriend as a partner while I don’t have a partner. We made a deal, we’re about to help each other to make Katniss jealous and make his boyfriend be my partner. I agree just to be with him even just a couple of minutes. But when Katniss and her boyfriend kissed he pushed me away that made me fall to my knees and caught everyone’s attention.
“What’s your problem, Philip?” I said when I finally got the strength to stand up. “YOU! You’re my problem!” he shouted at me and leave the party. I was left there teary eyed and embarrassed. I followed him in the garden outside the hotel where our prom was being held. I saw him sitting on the swing and maybe crying. As I approach him, I sit on the other swing beside him and say. “I’m sorry, Philip.” He looked at me teary eyed. “Don’t be….. I’m the one who supposed to be sorry….. I’m sorry for pushing you away and making you cry,” he said. “No, I didn’t cry. It’s my entire fault. If I haven’t made a deal with you, you wouldn’t be with a stupid and ugly girl like me,” I replied. “You know what?” he said “You made my first prom very interesting.” Then he runaway and leaving me again watching the stars in the night sky alone.
The next day I haven’t seen him in our math class until our lunch time. But when our physics class started there was a big commotion at the back of the room. There I noticed Philip and Eros were fighting and Katniss were just at the corner of the room sitting and ignoring the two fighting over her. I stand up and got between the two when I finally got them separated. “Stop it! Please Philip, stop it,” I said. “Leave us alone, Zyra. I want to beat this bastard and throw him to pieces,” he said not even looking at me; there was an intense eye contact between Philip and Eros. I was about to leave when Eros grabbed my hand. “No sweetheart, don’t leave,” he said. “I’ve got to tell you something.” “What is it?” I replied. “No, don’t talk to him, Zyra,” Philip said then he look at Eros. “She’s mine and will never be yours.” Then Philip grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him. I can saw the shocked expression of Eros and say “Oh really? Since when, Phil? Prom?” “No, ever since the day our eyes locked and our hands held.” Philip said, still holding my hand and now staring in my eyes. I’m so confused by the way he stares and the way he speaks. “Can I ask what’s happening, Philip?” I said. “It was not us who pretend to be a partner last night, Zyra,” he said. “It was Katniss and Eros, he wants you to be jealous and be your partner, Eros likes you, no----- maybe he loves you.” Philip was almost crying when he tells me the truth. “What?! Loves me?” I said. “Yes, Zyra,” he replied “but your mine, he will not take you no matter what.” “Wait Philip, I can’t understand.” I said, now I’m crying because he is now also crying. “I can’t pretend anymore, Zyra I love you ever since we became partners in the drama club. It was love at first sight, my everyday was not complete when I can’t see you,” he said and wiping my tears by his hands. “Eros kissed Katniss while looking at you, that made me angry. He can’t respect girls and even taking advantage on Katniss, so I’ve pushed you, hard. I got even more angry, angry by myself and this f*ckin Eros!” he continued while staring at me again. “I’m sorry, Zyra. I regret that night happened, I want to kiss you too but more real than the way Eros kissed Katniss. I love you so much, and I will never going to give you to someone else. Your mine and I’m yours. ” Then finally Philip kissed my lips gently. “I love you too, Philip”
