On Friday, March 15th, I and about 20 kids from my school went to the old treasury in Melbourne to participate in the school climate strike. If you don't know what it is or how it came to be, I'll explain.
In Sweden, in August 2018, a 16-year-old girl called Greta didn't attend school for 3 weeks and stood outside her local parliament house to protest against climate change. EVentually, more people joined her, and then she decided to strike only on Fridays at noon.
On March 15th, kids from over 123 countries struck all over the world at noon to protest doing nothing in the face of an ever-warming planet. The atmosphere at mine was electric, and easily 10 000 people were there, from kids in year 6 to grandmothers and grandfathers who wanted to leave a better world for their offspring.
It was really cool to meet people who had the same mindset as me about saving the planet. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make new friends and potentially be on the news/social media.
