"I got her, babe."

Colin Kaepernick told his wife, Casey as the soft cries of their newborn daughter filled their bedroom. He got out of bed and started slipping on his red 49'ers sweatpants.

"No, Kaep. You have practice tomorrow. You need your sleep. She's probably hungry." Casey replied, wincing at the sharp pain in her abdominal as she moved to get up.

"Casey, I got her. Remember what Dr. Roberts said? You're to stay off your feet as much as possible until you heal. If she's hungry, I'll make a bottle." Colin finalized with a look that told her that it was non negotiable.

Casey pouted, to which Colin chuckled. He shuffled to her side of the bed giving her a quick kiss. "I love you sweet girl but you need to chill out. Let Daddy handle this." With that he left the room.

"What's the matter, Tee Tee?"

Colin cooed as he tiredly stalked over to the crib, which held his fussy daughter Tierra.

He peered over the safety bars and smiled. Despite the little sleep he's gotten since he and Casey brought her home, he couldn't get over the fact that he had fathered such a precious child. He wasted no time picking her up and cuddling her to his bare chest. Tierra immediately calmed down as she snuggled into Colin's warmth.

He walked over to the changing table, gently laying her down. He opened the bottom of the solid pink onesie to check Tierra's diaper. The diaper was dry so she wasn't crying about that.

Colin bent down and kissed her forehead. "Making all that fuss because you wanted daddy to hold you. Is that it?"

Tierra made a gurgle sound  as her small, brown eyes looked up at him. Colin picked her up and and sat in the rocking chair his parents got for Casey.

He sighed contently as he stared at Tierra. He'd never felt so much love and admiration for a human being, besides Casey, as he did now.

"You are the most beautiful baby I've ever seen, Tee Tee. Mainly, because you like look just like mommy. You have the same eyes that she can see through my soul with. The same cute little button nose. I'm just so in awe, little girl."

Colin paused a moment. He had to take a minute to thank God for his never ending blessings. He was in his seventh year with the 49er's, he finally settled down with a loyal woman who was independent and strong- minded but still let him be the man of the house, and now Tierra.

"You really don't know how happy Daddy is right now.  Even if he has to be up and out in a few with only four hours of sleep." He bent down and kissed Tierra's cheek.

His dad was right. There is no greater feeling than knowing what it's like to be a father. From the time Casey surprised him with a sonogram until the time she gave birth, he was on cloud nine.

"I hope I don't fail you, Tee Tee. I want to be the best father that I can be. Know that I'll always be here for you and that my love will never leave. OK?"

In reply, Tierra sneezed and scrunched up her tiny nose making the most adorable face. Colin chuckled as he  brought his face down to nozzle his nose gently with the baby. He then got up so he could get a bottle to feed her. After giving her a bottle and a fresh change, she finally went to sleep.

Casey huffed a breath as she waited for her husband to come back to bed. She knew Colin meant well but, his overprotection was too much. She could understand why though.

Casey had had a really hard time with her labor the first few hours. Tierra was prepared to come breech and Dr. Roberts was unsuccessful at attempting to turn her. Theyended up doing an emergency C-section and to God be the glory , her little girl came with little complications.

They had to stay three days, just to make sure everything was OK. Dr. Roberts had recommended that Casey take her daily routine lightly and to stay off her feet as much as possible. To Colin, that meant she was to stay in the bed while he catered to her every demand.

Though it sounded great, Casey really wanted to be proactive with Tierra. She wanted to be the one to go console her  and sing Tierra lullabies when she cried. She made up her mind to tell Colin how she felt when he returned.

A few moments later, he strolled back into their room. Colin let out a big yawn, ridding himself of his sweats and sliding into bed. Casey turned to her side so that they were face to face.

"You know I was capable of getting up too.

"Casey--" Colin began to argue.

"No Colin! Babe, I know you mean well and I appreciate it. But you have to ease up a little. I'm a bit sore but I'm fine enough to do other things. I want to do more than just hold her in bed! I'm putting my foot down Colin. I'm not staying in this bed any longer!"

Colin grimaced. Casey hardly ever got that tone with him. Even on the few times they'd disagreed she never yelled.  He stared at her for a minute and said nothing but held out his arm, asking her to accept his embrace.

Casey smiled as she melded her small frame into his. She closed her eyes when she felt his lips kiss her forehead.

"Okay baby. Whatever you want. Sorry, I've been acting a little cray cray. It's only because I love you so much, Case." Colin whispered into her hair.

"And I love you too Kaep."
