Every single day.

I noticed him the first day, and everyday after, but it still struck me anew every time I saw him just how small he looked. It couldn't be comfortable sitting there in the crisp, spring air. April hadn't shown any signs of warming up, and it showed in the way he wrapped his arms tightly around himself.

So why did he do it? Sit there for God knows how long every single day?

It took me exactly twenty-five days to talk to him. I finally worked up the nerve to take a few steps to my left and sit down next to him. The first thing I noticed when I sat down was how red his nose looked. He must have been here for ages, his face raw with the cold.

Startlingly amber eyes stared directly into my own as soon as I sat down next to him. I cleared my throat, wishing I had prepared at least an opening sentence before I was fool enough to sit next to him.

"So...I walk by here everyday." He nodded, waiting for me to continue. I didn't know why I was so nervous.

"I couldn't help but notice you. You've been here every time I walk by. For weeks." He just smiled at me, his mouth slightly off center and tilting upwards to one side.

"Why?" I didn't mean it to sound so blunt, but he didn't seem to mind.

"I'm waiting."
