“I take it back, you're not always right.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. You promised we'd have a How I Met Your Mother marathon before season 9 ever even started and that never happened.”
“Well you promised you'd help me film that music video I wanted to do and that never happened either.”
“You promised we'd go bungee jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge.”
“Isn't that illegal?”
“Then why'd you promise?”
“I don't even remember promising it.”
“See, that's the thing about promises. People don't even remember making them.”
“You also promised we'd go on a road trip last summer break but instead you spent it with Caroline.”
“She just officially became my girlfriend that time, okay.”
“So is that supposed to be an excuse or am I supposed to feel obligated to let you spend time with your girlfriend.”
“Haha, you said 'obligated,' you sound like a wanna-be lawyer.”
“And you sound like a twelve year-old when you change the subject like that.”
“The cartoons these days are just complete trash, what happened to Hey Arnold! and Rugrats and all. Look at that, I don't even know if that's a cat or a wolf or just a really ugly rat. Plus they talk, like how gross is that. TV these days, psh.”
“Stop that.”
“And music these days? Come on, MTV. You call that music? That's like, flashing lights and electric noises.”
“You know what, get back to me when you're less drunk.”
“I'm not drunk.”
“Sure.”
“You promised you'd always be there when I needed you.”
“I did.”
“Well I need you.”
“And I'm here.”
“No you're not. You're not here here.”
“I'm as here as you want me to be.”
“We suck at keeping promises, you know that?”
“Doesn't everyone?”
“If I kept my promises better, would you have stayed?”
“You know it wasn't like that, Gil.”
“I don't, actually. I feel like I don't know anything anymore.”
“I already told you why. I wrote you a note and everything.”
“But I don't get it.”
“You don't get it, or you don't get me?”
“I tried okay. I really did.”
“Did you?”
“I did.”
“Sure.”
“...you're right.”
“I always am, Gilbert.”
“Good morning, Wes.”
“Good morning, Gil.”
