David looked around nervously as he continued driving down the interstate. It had been half an hour since they left and he was starting to get worried.
"What's this one supposed to be?" Maggie said, pointing at a tattoo on Jaiden's shoulder.
"A DNA strand," Jaiden answered, "Specifically a double helix."
"I just can't stop thinking about my family," Lynda said out of the blue. "You know, I had a cousin that did this sort of shit once. His name is Zack and he got caught."
"That won't happen to us," Michael said.
"You sure?" retorted Maggie.
"Not with me here," Jaiden said.
"While we're on the topic of emotional shit, and since we'll probably get caught and spend the rest of our lives in prison," Maggie said, turning to Lynda. "I like you," Maggie said bluntly, sitting back in her seat. A stunned silence followed.
"Um...thanks?" Lynda said awkwardly. "You know I have a boyfriend, right?"
"Why would you say that?" Michael said.
"Yeah but that dickhead only is with you cause you can afford all the shit he wants," Maggie said angrily.
"You may think he loves her for her money," Jaiden said, "But I know what he really loves her for."
"Oh yeah?" Lynda said "What's that?"
"Your new leopard skin pillbox hat," Jaiden replied.
"Excuse me?" Lynda exclaimed.
"Your most recent Instagram post," he responded, "He was flipping his shit over that thing."
"You've been on my Instagram?"
"I make it a point to do a shit ton of research on everyone before I do illegal shit with them," Jaiden said, "I do it on general principle."
David's heart skipped a beat when he heard police sirens behind him.
"What?" Michael shouted, "What are they doing?"
"Oh fuck," Jaiden said, "I forgot to replace the government plates."
"Your license plates are expired?" David screamed. Jaiden didn't respond.
"Just keep going," Michael said, "We can outrun them, right?"
"Fuck that," Jaiden said, "Police around here are trained to drive at 120 miles per hour. Plus they're about to start using a maneuver I like to call the Cage. There's no way you're out running them."
"Then what do we do?" David panicked, seeing multiple sirens appear in his rear view mirror. "There's no way we'll get away!" They gradually were gaining on them, two coming up on each side.
"Bitch please," Jaiden said, unlocking a panel in the floor of the backseat. He pulled out two assault rifles. He tugged on the straps to his harness, making sure they were tight. "I'm about to blow their systems sky high."
"What's that supposed to-" Maggie was cut short by Jaiden leaning back and smashing the window directly behind them. The entire window flew out of its place and tumbled down the street. Jaiden jumped out, landing on the cooler that was strapped to the back. The cord hooked to his harness pulled taunt, keeping Jaiden tethered to the car as he threw his arms forward, not caring to aim as he let the bullets fly from the guns.
"Get got, motherfuckers!" he shouted as the police cars to either side of the Jeep went veering off to the sides. Two more cars came up on them from behind. Jaiden fired at them, but missed as one of the cars flew towards them. It slowed down just as it was about to hit the car's bumper, giving Jaiden the opportunity to accurately shoot the driver in the forehead. The other police car used this as a distraction, swerving around and coming up on the side, out of Jaiden's immediate sight. The police car swerved quickly to the side of Blackjack, pushing David to move to the side. Jaiden tried to shoot at the police car's tires but missed, instead hitting the rear bumper.
"Shit," he said, "Cut me loose, Maggie!"
"But you'll fall!" Maggie shouted.
"I got this!" Jaiden replied. Maggie did as she was instructed. Jaiden threw one of the rifles into the road and grabbed onto Blackjack's roof rack, hoisting himself up. He did his best to keep his balance while walking slowly over to the edge of the jeep. He jumped onto the hood of the police car, firing his remaining rifle into the driver's seat. The car veered off, crashing into the interstate median. David kept driving.
"Shouldn't we go back for him?" Lynda said.
"Absolutely not," Michael said. "There's no doubt more cops on the way."
"But he could die!"
"He'll be fine." David's heart skipped a beat as he heard the click of a gun behind him.
"Stop the car now," Lynda said, her voice shaking.
"What the fuck, Lynda," Michael said, "Put that away."
"We can't just leave him there."
"What're you gonna do, walk back just to find his corpse and get your ass arrested?" David said.
"Yeah I will, as long as it means I might save a life," Lynda responded.
"That's real fucking noble of you," Michael said sarcastically.
"Do it now!" Lynda screamed. David pulled to the side of the road and Lynda got out, running back towards the wreckage, the gun in her hand.
"More money for us I guess," David said.
"You shouldn't have done that," Maggie said worriedly.
"She knows where we're going," Michael said, "If she gets caught she'll tell the cops."
"Then we'll just have to go somewhere else," David said, "Any ideas?"
