The house next door
Sophie gripped the door knob tightly, shaking a she did so. She looked around, was it safe? Of course, it was she told herself confidently, rolling her eyes and not paying any attention to the little voice inside her head. Sophie took a deep breath and turned the handle, not minding that it made a dangerous creek that made her feel a tinge of anxiety inside. Cautiously, she took a step inside, however I can assure you now that the little girl was no where near ready for what she saw before her. It was utterly unimaginable.
The first thing Sophie saw was an enormously large Grandfather clock, that had obviously not been touched for decades, as Sophie could see the dusty clock face was coated with a spider's web, well actually many spider's webs. Sophie's face immediately formed an 'O' shape, she found what was placed in front of her now tearful eyes was totally horrifying to the poor child.
Just at that moment, the filthy clock suddenly struck twelve making Sophie almost jump out of her skin, alarmed. "Ding dong, ding dong!" it chimed. Startled with the deafening noise of the grandfather clock, Sophie stumbled around to see a huge staircase coated with dust and grub. She could smell the old musty of scent of each step that was covered in filth. As she felt for the banister she brushed of a good amount of dirt onto the floor, which made a cloud of dust waft up into Sophie's face making her cough sharply. Carefully, Sophie made her way up the first step, but no sooner had she placed her foot on the step that it gave out a loud, ear-splitting creek that made her shiver in fright. Why was she so afraid? It's not like anyone was watching her, she was alone, wasn't she? Little did she know, that behind the clock face a pair of yellow, petrifying eyes were secretly staring at her, glued to her body. These eyes were eyes you wouldn't want to come across, not then, not now, not ever.
