"Oh come on Addy, it will only be for a few months!" she said.
"Mom, what the fuck. Was this your idea?" I said directing my question towards my step dad. Ever since he married my mom, they were always doing crazy things. Like this one for example. They wanted to backpack around all of Europe or some shit. Said they'd drop me off near London to live with my cousins. Yeah okiiee.
"Of course this wasn't his idea. It was our decision!" My mom said sternly to me. I rolled my eyes. She had kind of turned ito a pot smoking hippy since Theo had come along. He was 7 years yonger than her and she loved it. They had gotten married and were calling this trip their honeymoon. Yeah bullshit. I knew there was no changing her mind but sometimes it is fun to argue. The say you have to pick and choose your battles, I just choose them all.
"Really? ugh this is such bull!" I raised my voice.
"Why don't you just calm down and we can talk about this later," Theo said.
"Yeah why don't you just got smoke your hookah and smoke some more blunts!" I got up motioning at the ash tray and burnt out blunts. God he is such a worn out college frat boy hippy.
"Addison!!" My mom yelled.
"I'll go pack my bags!" I yelled stomping up the stairs and then slamming my door. My room was a deep purply grey color. It usually calmed me down. So did the cigarettes in my top drawer. I went over to the white dresser and pulled out a fresh pack. I grabbed a lighter from purse and went over to the window. I opened it and climbed out onto the roof. My mom and step dad may love their weed, but they hated cigarettes. I pulled one out, and lit it. I inhaled deeply as smoke filled my lungs. The feeling of home.
I pulled out my phone and checked my texts. Nothing. Typical. I finished my cigarette and then flicked the butt off the roof. It landed in the bushes with the other ones.
Guess I should start packing. England here I come.
I climbed into my room and got a suitcase from the closet. I emptied my drawers into the suitcase, not bothering to fold them. Shit almost forgot. I reminded myself of some extra cash I had made over the summer. I layed down on the ground next to my bed. I reached under and felt for the envelope that I had stapled to the white frame. I pulled it out and looked inside. Almost five grand. Ok so Theo may grow his own pot, and I may steal a lot of it and sell it... I threw it into my purse and called it a night. I turned my tv on and climbed under my covers.
................................................................
"I'm gonna miss you soo much Addy!" My mom said before I was about to head through customs.
"Yeah, ok gotta go.." She wrapped her arms around me. Theo was in the background talking on his phone. Buhbye bitch.
"I love you!' She said.
"Yeah. Have fun on your trip." I said. She let go of me, and I turned and left. It was time to start a new life. At least for a little bit. I was ready to get out of my small home town. I needed to.
.....................
I woke up, rubbing my eyes. The captains voice came on. "We are 10 minutes from descent, it is a brisk 50 degrees in London today, hope you enjoyed your flight, and thank you fo flying with us."
Here goes nothing I suppose. I put my headphones and my iPod back into my bag, checking to make sure my money was still in it. I prayed that my suitcase wasn't searched thoroughly, considered all the drugs I attempted to smuggle in. Thats not my bag!! I rehearsed just incase.
We landing smoothly and I waited until all the passengers filed out. I grabbed my carry on from the overhead. I slung my purse over my shoulder and headed off the plane. My mom told me that my cousin was going to be there waiting for me. I picked up my bag from the bag claim and headed outside. I had't seen my cousin since I was 7. He was 13 or 14. So that makes him around 21. I remember him being blonde, always shorter and skinnier than me. He had a younger brother, Carter. Don't remember much besides he was annoying and never stopped talking.
I saw a guy standing by the large, glass sliding doors. Dirty blonde hair, tall, dark and handsome. Typical. He looked up from his phone, picture a Zac Efron, but just take down the hotness level from a 10 to a 7.5. I headed over toward him as he glanced around the airport.
"Eli?" I asked walking closer. He stopped looking around the airport an focused on me.
"Addison?!" He asked. I smiled at him and he pulled me into a big bear hug.
"Holy shit you grew up!" He stated.
"That tends to happen as years pass," I said sarcastically.
"As charming as ever, I see." We both laughed. He picked up my stuff we headed to the large glass sliding doors. The air was cool on my skin, I shivered a little and in that moment I was ready to face London.
