Music plays casually over the speakers of our rental car, the windows are down while the hot air from the beach blows in almost perfectly. I look over at Dawson who seems to be in his thoughts. His light blue eyes stare straight ahead, his hair blowing in the wind softly. I feel the anxiety in my gut, reminding me how serious all of this is. I'm so worried about him. I can't, even for a second, forget the way he looked when I saw him transformed. It was unlike anything I've ever seen before. It still feels like a dream—all of this being real. "Dawson—you won't hurt me. I know you won't." I reassure him, interrupting him. He sighs, shaking his head as he looks out the window this time.

"You think no one will find us here?" He asks, studying the blue sky and the bright sun. I watch him for a moment as he glances, following the line of the shore.

"We're in a secluded area—in Hawaii. No one knows about this place besides me. It was my grandma's secret getaway. She gave it to me before she passed. My own family never even knew it existed—my sister still to this day has no idea. It was mine and Nana's little secret."

"Oh God—Kate, your sister." He reminds me. I groan, remembering I've been dodging her calls for the past 2 days. And she works for the FBI. Not good.
