**Leah's POV**

It was a rainy day when I woke up. I sighed. It's always like this in Ireland. I had just arrived to my home town Mullingar two days ago. Usually I would've been living with my best friend Josh, but he was about to go on tour with a band. Ugh, just thinking about made me think about Niall. Niall was a musician too... I missed him so much. Niall Horan was my best friend since, well, birth I guess. He had blue eyes and brown hair, like me. His hair turned more blonde as he got older, as mine did as well. We used to play together everyday because we were next door neighbors. When we grew older he would always hang out with me, and when his friends wanted him to leave me out he never listened. When we reached high school I would always support him through his many, many girlfriends and he would support me through my many, MANY heartbreaks.

I used to get bullied at school a lot. Everyday I would go home crying. Niall would always walk home with me, dry my tears, and say "They're just bein' idiots, Leah! You're beautiful, intelligent, and definitely funny!" I have to say, Niall was probably my only friend in high school. We had our own ways of comforting each other. I would tell him funny stories and he would sing to me. Yes, I said sing. Niall had, and still has, a beautiful voice. He would sing me slow songs, happy songs, but most of all love songs. It meant nothing to either of us, it's just that he knew love songs made me feel better. I have to admit though, I did start to fancy him a little.

Then the time came to go to college. That's where everything changed. Well, not at first. Niall and I applied to the same college in Dublin and we both got in. We bought an apartment on campus and it was really fun! One day I was watching the teli and a commercial came on. The XFactor UK was coming soon! I told Niall and he was as excited as I was. I told him that he should audition, but he said he was nervous to. It took a long time to convince him to, but he finally decided to audition. I helped him practice day and night over and over again. Finally, the day of the auditions came.

We woke up super early and made a quick stop at Nandos for a good luck breakfast. Then we drove to auditions. The Horan family was already there and, thank god, saved us a spot in line. There were hundreds, maybe even thousands of people in line and by the time we got to the front, it was already the early afternoon. "Name?" a lady asked Niall. "Eh...um-""Niall Horan" I said. Wow he was really nervous. "Ok well here's your number Niall, good luck!" the lady said.

While we were walking Niall got pulled aside for an interview by a cameraman. " So Niall, how does it feel to have a chance to be a big star?" the man asked, "Well, I'm really quite nervous but I think I'll do very good." Niall said. We were about to walk away when the cameraman asked one more question, "Now Niall, you're a very charming young man, is that your girlfriend?" Niall froze. "Well, em," he cleared his throat, "not exactly."

We walked away. I kept thinking about what Niall said to the man "not exactly"... what's that suppose to mean? Niall and I went sidestage and the rest of his family took their seats in the audience. "Number 232677, Niall Horan" They called. "Good luck!!! Make Simon love you!" I said. He laughed and said thanks. Then he ran on stage waving to the audience and they went crazy! Simon asked, "What's your name?" "Eh, Niall Horan." "Where are you from Niall Horan?" asked Simon. "Mullingar, Ireland" said Niall. "Well, let's see what you've got Niall of Mullingar, Ireland." The crowd cheered. The music started and Niall sang like I've never heard him sing before. It was beautiful. When he finished, the judges gave their comments. So far he had one yes, and one no. "Well, your not as good as you thought you were, this wasn't the right song choice," Simon said. I started tearing up, "But I like you Niall, there's something about you that I like, so I'm going to say yes." The audience cheered like crazy, and I just stood there with tears in my eyes. This time they were happy tears. I looked onstage and Niall was jumping up and down like a crazed leprechaun. He happily ran offstage and gave me a giant hug. "OH MY GOD I GOT THROUGH!" he shouted. "I KNOW CONGRAGULATIONS OH MY GOD!!!" I shouted back. The cameraman got it all on tape but I didn't care. I was so happy for Niall.
