Contrary to popular belief, Sirens are not Mermaids. Nor aquatic beings at all. Instead of rubbery gills and glistening scales, Sirens possess large powerful wings and a haunting song. They are tired and rugged, brought back from vengeance and spite. Unlike Mermaids, Sirens are born anytime from twisted and watery deaths. They are born from underwater screams by being shoved overboard. The huskiness in their voice from ocean salt carries into their alluring song even in the afterlife. They're given this second chance once their bodies are thrown in the sea. Well, that's how it used to be...

Amidst waking on cold ground, muddy voices nearby clouded her mind. A harsh cry bellowed, making her heart drop and surroundings shake. Even the smallest whisper was a punch to the chest. She fought to keep consciousness. Through pounding thoughts, she wondered what could make a sound like that? Who were these people? Why did it hurt? But above all, where was she?

She stayed silent. If a singular voice could make her feel fear, confusion, sadness, and everything in between, she did not want it to know she was awake. Looking up as the other voice began had been a bit futile. For a moment, she debated if she was being kept in a dusty fishbowl after a life long sleep. Her body felt like an abandoned puppet in an old fairground. Luckily, instead of a piercing cry, with the opposing voice, the sun seemed to shine through into a glossy harmony. The maker glowed as if she was love, light, and beauty all in one.

"Have you forgotten? You owe me a favour. Need I remind you why you're still in power? Why you're not alongside the spirits circling your 'kingdom'?"
