Thursday had Billie on edge as it was the day before the highly anticipated Friday and all anyone could talk about was the game and the party. With puppy dog eyes and a cafeteria cupcake, Billie had been persuaded by Mikey and Hannah to attend the after party and they were now currently discussing what they were going to wear.
"I'm thinking something latex," Mikey said and Hannah gagged.
"Don't say that while I'm eating."
Mikey looked wounded and taken aback. "Excuse me? I've been working on my body the whole summer and when I'm finally ready to embrace my love handles you're disgusted?"
"I don't want to think of your love handles while I eat." She deadpanned throwing her banana back onto her tray and pushing it away.
Piper was deeply engaged in her book whilst Billie worked on some homework she had forgotten was due next lesson.
"Hey wallflowers," Preston said sliding into a seat opposite Billie and next to Hannah who shuffled away hurriedly in appalment. "I just wanted to see if you needed a lift to the party."
"Oh, that'd be great thanks-"
"Not you Ken," He said dismissively to Mikey.
"Actually, I was planning on getting there with Hannah and Mikey," Billie said and Preston looked confused.
"What by bus?" He asked. "No, I can just drive you it'll be easier."
"I'm sorry Preston but I'm not going without Hannah or Mikey." Billie finalized and Piper put her book down as she became interested in the conversation.
The football player looked angered for a moment before a charming smile settles on his face and he nodded. "Of course, I'll happily take Barbie and Ken as well. I'll give you my number though, just in case."
Billie nodded and fished through her bag before pulling out her phone and jumping at the gasps and exclamations made by the people around her.
"What the hell is that?"
"Is that a fossil?"
"Girl, why are you carrying a brick around?"
Mikey, Piper, and Hannah all said at once and Preston stared at the device like he was seeing a dinosaur.
"It's my phone," Billie said defensively, cradling the flip phone in her hands as she felt like one of them was about to take it and put it in a museum.
"It's something alright..."
