So, you could say Alicia and I were best friends, I mean we were born on the same day. We do everything together. We fought through all the storms, and broken hearts, we've done it all. She was the one that introduced me to, Brendon in seventh grade, which was probably the best thing she could ever do for me. Brendon and I have been together ever since. Now, we're in tenth grade in high school, where theres drama galore, and Those People.
Alicia walks swiftly to class, by my side, and we chat about the silly things in life. She had lengthy, and wavy blonde hair. That's what distinguished her from almost everyone else in school, because her hair was natural, not dyed. She had pale skin like Snow White, which is her favorite princess of them all. You could say she looked like the blonde version of Snow White. She had crystal eyes of blue, that empowers all of her beauty. She's shy, but best of all she's my best friend, even though she can make witty comments, about everything. "Alicia, why do you have to be so pretty?" I asked softly. She continues to walk, with me still at her side, and she's like, "Blame it on Genetics, that's what I was always told, and sweet jesus, you're beautiful!" We laughed and went to class.
The clouds start rolling in covering the sky with total gray, and you could feel the fast approaching hurricane coming. Things that distinguished that the storm was approaching quickly, was the wind blowing cool, wisp of air at you, and you could smell the rain. We all stop what we're doing, and turn the news on, and then we hear the sudden booms of thunder, and cracks of lighting. Great, I was suppose to go on a picnic with Brendon. All of a sudden, the power goes out, and we wait and wait, but it never returns, so we end up going home early.
It starts with a slight, but steady drizzle, then we get through the door, just in time before its raining cats and dogs. Every 10 seconds, you would see the lightning blaze across the sky, with flaming gold colors. Clouds grew darker, and darker by the minute, and we just sat there listening to the patter of the rain against the glass windows. We closed the window's curtains, and went to the bedroom, to relax. "What, a horrible storm that's out there, school's probably canceled now, due to bad weather." I said. I was sitting at my marble window seal, looking at the water hit the window, and the lightning light up the sky. Alicia sat across the room, in a chair agreeing, saying, "Yeah, the hurricane is staying here for almost what seems like two weeks." Alicia hopped off the chair, and sat beside me on the window seal. She, then hopped off, with her black beanie falling off in the process. "Raven, I'm starving, aren't you?" she said lightly. I leaned over, snatched her beanie, and threw it at her. She's always hungry, but where does she store the food, when she's so darn skinny. We exit my room, and go to the kitchen, when I get this weird feeling, and then I wasn't hungry.
Alicia pulled open the fridge door and took out an apple."The reason why you're hungry all the time is, because the only thing you really eat is apples, or pizza and chicken." I chuckled. She showed a sliver of a grin, and then, went back to searching for food. "You make me sound like I am like Snow White, because I love apples. Maybe I will eat a poison apple next time, and fall to my death." she said giggling. We both laughed. Alicia grabbed the reddest apple, and took a chomp into it. The rain slowly started to let down, so we decided to go get the mail. That's when my phone buzzed, and Brendon had texted me back, after I texted him hours ago. Alicia ate every last bit of the apple, then walked slowly over to disposed of the core in the garbage can.
I stood there for a second, going blank for just a second, and it felt like I was in a trance, until I remembered I had to call Brendon. "Hey Alicia? Before we go get the mail, can you give me a minute I need to call my boyfriend," I said as I took my phone off the counter and searched through my phone to find his number. "You always talk to him, can you just have a day without calling Brendon?" Alicia snatched her phone and put it behind her back. "Fine, then let's go to the movies, and have a girl's night, oh that's right the power is out." I replied sternly. "It's just that this is my first long-term boyfriend and I just really- love him," I said, staring off into space thinking about Brendon. "Well, Brendon can wait, because I never spend actual time with you, ever since you guys started dating. He can wait." Alicia said, as she put my phone on the counter. "Rave, the powers back on, let's hit the movies. We may never get a day off school like this again, please." she said.
Alica grabbed her keys, then grabbed my arm, and pulled me out the door. The rain was light, so we walked to the car, and we pulled up to the movies about 20 minutes later. Alica and I stepped out of the car, and walked inside. "So, Alicia, what movie are we coming to see, I heard there were Snow White movies, so what shall we see?" I said cheerfully. She replied back with, "Well then, so many to choose, so much to see, but which do I want, which is the best of them all?" We both laughed and her eyes lit up, like magical blue orbs, and I was just so awestruck about her beauty.
I get a cringed feeling, and I look at the back exit to see if someone was watching me. I know that Those People are watching my every move, because I crossed them. They want me, and well they can't have me. "Raven, they're selling apples over there, let's go." Alicia exclaimed. I shook my head, and took her hand as we scurried over to the apples. "Apples anyone, they're simply delicious, and the best of them all. Why don't you, take a sliver?" asked a girl with long, layered blonde hair, and jet blue eyes. Alicia took the best looking apple, and took a bite. That's when everything went wrong. She reached in her basket for a bright, red apple and tried giving it to me, but I insisted that I didn't want the apple, so I said, "I'm getting popcorn, because I'm at the movies. Maybe next time...not."
Alicia took the apple that the girl wanted me to have, and took a huge bite out of it. The girl behind the counter showed her evil grin, and that's when I knew who we were messing with. "Alicia, so what about Those People?" I quivered. She looks up, as the poison starts to take place and saids, "I will protect you from Those People." The light in her eyes go out, and she's falling like there's no tomorrow. She tried grabbing onto something, but the light finally faded out of her eyes, as she hit the cold theatre ground. The apple rolled out of her hand, all the way to my foot.
"ALICIA, WAKE UP!!!!!" I shrieked. I ran over to Alicia, and tried to find a heartbeat, and it was slow, then nothing. A huge crowd started surrounding, and they started flipping their phones out, and calling 9-1-1. I froze, then Brendon came, and I collapsed into his arms. I kept shaking Alicia, and begging her to open her vibrant blue eyes, but nothing happened. I was still frozen, everything was frozen. I felt a small warm tear drop, streaming down the corner of my eye. Everyone had soon left, and I was still upset. I waited at her side with Brendon, until the paramedics got there.
They said the wrong words that totally shattered my world, "She's gone, time of death...." I turned to Brendon, and cried into his jacket. He took me home, and waited for me to fall asleep, and then he left. I felt my baby sister Rose, appear at my side. Her small hand reached for mine, and she crawled onto the bed, and cuddled next to me. I had to be strong for her, because I was all she had. Mom died in child birth, seconds after having Rose, and Dad couldn't stand not having mom, so he left. I named her Rose, because she has strawberry blonde hair, and electric jaded green eyes. She also had pale skin, and I loved her more then a sister. She starts combing my curly, carmel brown hair, and we fell asleep in each others arms. I had pale skin, just like Alicia, and I have electrifying blue eyes, but I can't replace her.
One thing I know for sure, is Those People will pay!
