despite being really close now at this point there's still a lot of things y/n didn't know about jungwoo. he wanted to tell her but he didn't think she was curious.

she thinks i'm just a shy and awkward boy.

he wasn't.

he wanted friends. he wanted to be outgoing but there wasn't any opportunity for him to do so because he was home schooled his whole life until he got into a university.

despite his parents being divorced,he's actually really close to his dad. in fact they see each other often on sundays. they do the usual father and son stuff. biking,tennis, or whatever sport they could think of,jungwoo was good at it.

his dad never got remarried. Mr. Kim just never told jungwoo but he still loves his wife.

"when are you going to see your mom?" Mr. Kim asked while they were eating.

"I don't know yet,but maybe 2 weeks from now." jungwoo replied.

Mr. Kim just nodded.

"dad?"

"mmm?"

"why did you get divorced from mom?" jungwoo suddenly asked.

Mr. Kim just sighed.

"do you not love her anymore?"

"it's not like that." he put down his coffee.

"your mom and i just weren't going in the same direction anymore. i don't know when,but there came a time when i just realized that she wouldn't compromise for me anymore,she doesn't listen to anyone but she should at least hear her husband out." he explained.

"there was never anyone else. our marriage ended because we were both selfish. and i hate to admit it but getting divorced actually meant that i get to raise my son the way i wanted to." he looked down.

jungwoo looked down too. he was right,his dad always encouraged him to join different activities so he could make friends. in fact jungwoo is a black belter in taekwondo, that was about the only his mom let him do. Mr. Kim persuaded his mom saying that it was self-defense.

"but i hope you don't hate your mom. she's like that because she loves you."

"i don't,dad,i was just suffocated." jungwoo said softly.

"you mom never told you but as a child she was abused and bullied." Mr. Kim said.

jungwoo's eyes widened at the revelation.

"i thought it would be the right time to tell you since she never wanted you to know."

"why wouldn't she want me to know?"

"people full of pride don't like being looked at with eyes of pity." Mr. Kim said.

"but how come you know this about her?"

"i was her first friend in the orphanage." his dad said.

"we were adopted into different families but we kept in touch and eventually fell inlove. she used to be beaten by her father,her mother sent her to the orphanage cause she was unable to protect her daughter. she was bullied in school cause of all the scars she had when she was a child."

jungwoo knew his parents were both adopted but he never knew his mom's backstory.

"do you regret getting divorced?" jungwoo asked.

"i would be lying if i said i don't miss your mom everyday."
