The lack of sound, ringing through out the storage unit was unsettling in numerous ways. The red head sat across from me, leaning forward resting his chin on his thumbs, allowing his index finger to graze his lips.
The darkness of the container provided no way of measuring the time I'd been in here. But the thumping in my head proved I'd been here long enough to feel the after effects of partying the night before.
The cable tie around my wrists had only drawn tighter within the hours I had been here. The raw skin left by said cable tie was now edged with dry blood. My exhaustion was overwhelming but couldn't come close to my itch for nicotine. Deep crescent shaped nail indents decorated my palms as I pushed them further into my skin to distract from my soul crushing urge to satisfy my guilty habit.
"What am I still doing here? I helped you." His eyes moved up to meet my own, his gaze seemingly burning through me. "My associate and I came to the conclusion that given your inside knowledge of Busan's operation, you might be quite useful to us in that respect." His words heightened my interest and I couldn't help but contemplate the idea. "I'm willing to offer you a deal." As the red head spoke his speech took on its usual velvety quality which only added to my intrigue.
He lifted his chin from it's resting place and interlocked his fingers together, allowing him to acquire a level of both professionalism and intimidation. I shook these senseless thoughts from my head and drew my focus back onto the preposition at hand. "I'm listening." I lifted a brow encouraging him to continue. "Myself and the people I work with could make great use of the inside information you have. So in exchange for this useful information and any other help you may provide, I personally will ensure that something like this never happens again."
"And if I refuse?" I looked down onto the floor in an effort to look nonchalant about the weight of his offer. Despite avoiding his gaze it was evident that my arrogance was pushing his limits when something behind his eyes seemed to be set a blaze with my words. At this he stood up from his chair and began to walk towards me. His movements made me feel almost like a deer caught in headlights with no escape. "Well, just know that even if we let you go, every one of my associates will be out for your blood because as far as they're concerned you're still a threat to our territory."
I couldn't help but feel the fear of being hunted down by the Seoul mob creep into my heart, poisoning my brain into submission to his offer. "So, I help you find out what's going on and in return I get immunity from your associates?" He crosses his arms and nodded silently in response. "Okay, I'll help you." My words seemed to be spat from my mouth as I reluctantly bound myself into a contract which forced me to permanently turn my back on those I love... loved.
"Let her go." The red head ordered Johnny and as if he were awaiting these exact instructions, he walked behind the chair I was on and began loosening my holds. The rough rope cascaded down off my arms and the taller of the men knelt down in front of me to remove the plastic cable tie binding my wrists.
The quick release of the pressure was near ecstasy and my thumb caress the red banding imprinted on my wrists. What have I gotten myself into?
