"My my, we found a pretty boy!" sneered a scarred hooligan.
The man beside him rubbed his hands together maliciously, "He gon' sell for gold with that face of his,"
"Who'd have thought we'd find a treasure in this trash village," the bald man chuckled. "Throw him in with the lame brat. And clean him up so he doesn't smell like chicken shit."
'Traitors. Once I've recovered, I'll make them wish they were dead!' The little boy glared at the three men, because in his current state, that was all he could do. He was betrayed by his own 'family' and was mercilessly tossed to one of the lower planes.
No spiritual energy in this world, he figured out quickly, and wandered around for two weeks up to this point.
He grunted painfully when he was literally thrown into the primitive vehicle. He was weak, too weak in this form, if he still didn't have his core, even he would have thought he became a mortal. If only he could cultivate, he'd make this world fall to its knees and worship him, and make these men who dared to call him pretty suffer.
"Hey," it was only then did the boy notice the other person. He did his best to observe the other's features in dim lighting; long, black hair matted with mud and blood, his dark eyes somehow managing to shimmer like stars in the sky.
His gaze went downward and froze on the bandaged legs. It was just as dirty as the rest of his body, and by the dried blood and filthy odor on it, it was a guarantee that the wounds were infected.
'What a waste, I would've made him my little pet if it weren't for his ruined legs. He wouldn't be able to serve me well with his lower body useless.' the boy sighed. Even though he couldn't see the features well, he sees enough to know that he was the most beautiful thing he'd seen since coming to the plane.
The lad's lips moved, but no voice came out. He cleared his throat and apologized. "Sorry, hadn't had company in a while. I'm He Mingli, did they massacre your family too?"
---
"Oi, Xiang Wei! Don't sleep on duty, be alert!" Mingli scolded.
The man blew the loose hair escaping the bun he made in a hurry. But before he could reply, he looked towards the Autumn Courtyard, an imperceptible raise of eyebrows his only reaction. Following his gaze, Mingli spoke. "I heard the ger will give birth soon. You think it's today?"
"Maybe." Oh, something much more interesting than childbirth occurred in the Autumn Courtyard. Well, it was none of his business. "I don't care."
His partner huffed, "You never care about anything--"
"I care about you." Xiang Wei hurriedly inserted, but was ignored as always.
"--you don't have hobbies, you don't even have friends other than me!"
"You're the only one I need in this world."
"I'm sure if I didn't learn martial arts, get job after job, you'd be sitting on your ass doing nothing!"
"Of course, why would I waste energy on meaningless endeavors? I obviously just want to be with you every minute and every second of the day." I'd rather your ass sit on me, is what he didn't say. Last time he said something like that, Mingli blushed as red as a tomato and ignored him for weeks. The former was cute, but he couldn't stand being given the cold shoulder and immediately conceded.
Mingli sighed. "I feel responsible for how you turned out. Did I spoil you too much? I should've been stricter." He patted the other on the shoulder and said solemnly, "Brother, we've been through life and death for more than ten years together. You were quite young at the time we met, so I understand that you've imprinted on me or something. But someday, you're gonna have to start learning to live without me."
